I did as you with a stock auto and ran 13.385 13.303 So I guess thats two stock SS's that can indeed run 13.3 sec in the 1/4 with high temps. I am sure if I had not just come from autocrossing and had a cool engine it could of been 13.1 to 13.2. I will have to go to the track when the temps are back down so I can try for a 12.99 just so I can say its a 12 sec car stock. RJ |

Ok, here's what my bone stock K&N Stock replacement air filtered 2010 Camaro V6 LS ran. First run of the day was my best, I had a slow R/T .575, 60 ft 2.26, 330 ft 6.37, 1/8 mile 9.70 and 1/4 mile 14.98 @ 93.95 MPH. I figure not bad considering I hadn't raced a car since 2000 when I had my 67 GTO. (Consistent 13.8's at 105MPH)
Well being all excited that I was in the 14's I figured that I could bring the E/T's down to at least 14.7 or better once I got the feel for the car.....Man!!! was I wrong and disapointed, I ran the car 7 more times and it never broke back into the 14's best I could muster was a 15.2 to 15.5 @ 90 to 93MPH. On the plus side howver my R/Ts got better and I had some decent 60 and 330 foot times. I was happy that I was beating some of the SS's off the line but as soon as I got to the 330 foot mark, it seemed that the V6 ran out of steam. here are my times. 1ST R/T .575, 60 ft 2.26, 330 FT 6.37, 1/8 9.7@74, 1/4 14.98 @93.95 MPH 2ND R/T .448, 60 FT 2.2, 330 FT 6.39, 1/8 9.8@70, 1/4 15.39@90.90 MPH 3RD R/T .346, 60 FT 2.4, 330 FT 6.58, 1/8 9.9@73, 1/4 15.30@93.03 MPH 4TH R/T .148, 60 FT 2.2, 330 FT 6.46, 1/8 9.8@73, 1/4 15.23@92.02 MPH 5TH R/T .307, 60 FT 2.3, 330 FT 6.62, 1/8 10.0@72, 1/4 15.51@90.94 MPH 6TH R/T .196, 60 FT 2.3, 330 FT 6.24, 1/8 10.0@72, 1/4 15.45@91.76 MPH 7TH R/T .014, 60 FT 2.3, 330 FT 6.55, 1/8 9.9@73, 1/4 15.32@93.32 MPH 8TH R/T -006, 60 FT 2.3, 330 FT 6.55, 1/8 9.9@72, 1/4 15.37@91.70 MPH (RED LIGHTED) As you can see from my times the car was fairly consistent but I would have preferred it to have been consistently in the hight 14's not low to mid 15's. I tried different launch techniques from Power braking with Traction Control off, transmission in Sport Mode shifting with the paddles. (Man do I miss the old rachet shifters), to traction control on transmission in Drive. I tried all sorts of ways. On the first run of the day the temp was only 76 degrees and I drove the car in D with traction control off for my best time. I tired it again for the second run and car went slower, so I started trying the other ways which still didn't help. All the other runs the temp was in the 80's with higher humidity. I think I need to find a way to get more air flow into the motor especially at the mid range and top end. It almost seems like the cars hits a wall after the 330 foot mark. Anyways that was my experience at C5fest. |

Try shifting to sports mode "M" and just let the car shift itself. Keep the computer controlled stuff on. That's how I ran my best time.

Best time was a 12.983 at 112.27. Was doing the photoshoot most of the day so only got about 8 or 9 runs late sat nite. Stupid rotofab cai tube came off when the hinny was running it. Gonna go with lsr's now. I'll post all my timeslips when I get to my comp. Was pulling low 13s but still had issues with the p zeros spinning. Got a tune and dyno from east coast. 550 rwhp!!

couldn't get the tires to hook up right, either too much grip or not enough. my best run was actually my first run. was hoping to get into the 12's, but no such luck. Always had a pretty good trap speed and good top end power, made up ground, but my 60's weren't too hot. (intake, exhaust)
here was my best run: R/T .832 (ughh) 60' 2.414 330 6.098 1/8 9.023 MPH 84.33 1000 11.511 1/4 13.577 MPH 110.70 Who was the guy on here before saying he ran a 12.23 "bone stock"???? that's hard to believe. I hope I can break into the 12's next time with some headers and a better launch.

Seriously, I want some clarification on this issue. Did anyone else race a bone stock vs a bone stock car out there? I raced my factory Camaro SS/RS with a full tank of premium gas against a V8 Hemi Challenger with some slight mods (CAI and I think he had a new exhaust too). We did three runs and I beat him two out of three, I flubbed the first one becuase I had never been on a track before in my life. However, I do know how to drive my car pretty well, I dropped it into m6 and tapped the traction control into sport mode (thanks Mark), avoided the water and I thought I did pretty well for a noobie.
11:37am 18/APR/2010 Car#132 Ov/Un... 13554 R/T ... .495 60 ... 2.095 330 ... 5.809 1/8 ... 8.834 MPH ... 81.71 1000 ... 11.403 1/4 ... 13.554 MPH ... 104.97 Note: He came to the host hotel parking lot Friday night looking for a girl to race in a stock Camaro. I warned him I was no "sissy girl". I said I'd race him only because I liked the color of his car. After "old Greg" in the Challenger gave up, hubby took my Camaro out on the track and raced a few times too, lost one and won one, both against a guy who had modified his Camaro but he couldn't get it into 2nd gear on the 2nd run so hubby won, but the other guys first run was 117... NOT stock! It does not seem fair that modded Camaro's were going up against STOCK Camaro's, it wasn't supposed to be like that, am I right? If I had made 15 runs like some of the others I probably could have improved my time, but I had some shopping to do - detalils below: My Camaro is officially no longer a virgin. I bought a CAI and had Jannetty Racing install it, then we we ordered the FlowMaster American Thunder Cat-Back Exhaust System. It's the closest I could find to what my 67 SS sounded like. I also have an online date with Defenderworx and ShowStopper Accessories. Just not enough time in the day. What a blast the weekend was, can't wait till next year!
