For sure it was a drivers race, but if I'm going get hypothetical on the technical side. The "track package" on the plain 350, does not add the aerodynamics of the R version.

The aero package of the Z28, with rear wicker bill full up, plays a fundamental key role on downforce and being able to sustain high geeez on fast turns. Ditto on the R version.

The fact that tylerio mentioned he was gaining on him on the turns only, but nothing on the straights, may speak some truths here.

Either that, or the 350 driver was simply inferior to tylerio, plain and simple, lol.
