Toggle Switch Question

I already know what wire I'm going to tap them into, Im going to use the same wire my radar detector is connected to. Just got my ABL footwells from AAC, and Im going to use a toggle switch with mine, so I can have them on at night if I want to. I like the dome light connection most do, but I would like to be able to control them as well.

Question is, the toggle has 3 prongs. One is Gold, and the other two are Silver. Am I right in assuming the Gold is the "power", and the others are a accessory for lights, and a ground for the switch. I know some are differ, I had one for some under car lights on a past vehicle and forgot.

Usually, the middle is common, which would be the lights. The other two would be the dome circuit and constant power, for example. This would allow one position to be dome-controlled and the other to be manual.

Hmmm now Im kinda wondering how I want to do this, haha. So many ways!

I like how the dome wiring works, but if I go that rout and would like to turn them on at night while driving, I wouldn't have that option.

Yes, I hate to repeat what is in this thread of 14 pages, haha sorry!

no matter if the ABL is on/off, dome light is on/off, or even if the car is on/off.

when i was tapping into the purple wire, i did notice there is another purple wire in that harness (same size) that's purple with a white line on it, is that the correct "purple wire"??

not sure... helpppp. i attached some pics.

also - this is all for one of the two AAC pieces. once i square away the t-taps and the correct connections - whats the easiest way to wire the 2nd AAC piece accordingly. i'd imagine somewhere thru the center console - but i'm talking more about the wiring.

thanks anyone who is awesome enough to respond!
Wow that's not the connector for the dome lights it to .

I went with tying them into the dome light. Later I'm going to tap in another wire for my switch controls. Thanks OP for showing where this wire is located. I took a pic of it also, and grounded both wires in the same location. Added a vid of my footwells, and some other stuff included also.

Grey wire pulled aside is where I tapped.

Well done Tony. Congrats on helping everyone here get these in their cars with ease.

You've certainly helped dozens of our customers install these on their own successfully.

Again, thank you!

Underneath yhe steering wheel. Tye Gray wire that connects to the gray terminal. That is the dome light wire. If you want a switch then you just need to find a power source and install the switch.

So do I need to connect a ground to the switch or just to the lights. So the gray goes to the switch and 12v power source and then to the lights ?
