Does anybody on here remember those INCREDIBLY heated debates that started when we first got some 1/4 mile times from the magazines?

"Those stupid Motor Trend testers! They SUCK! They should be shot in the face for how terrible they drive! They ONLY got a 13.0 out of that car? WTF?! Someone put that car in MY hands and I'll pull a 12.5 no problem! Magazine test drivers SUCK!!"

I guess they're not the worst drivers after all, hmm?

Another thing is the time of year many of us will be getting our cars (summer).
Warmer temps don't produce as fast of track times. Its already getting up to 88 degrees and it will stay that way in my area until Nov (S.W. Florida).

Many of us will have to wait until next Fall to run some real good track times.

We all know what happens at ATCO and some of the other East Coast tracks on cold weather days. There was a guy that ran something like 12.6 or 12.7 in a stock SRT-8 at ATCO on a cold day.

And most of the times we've seen by the mags (13.0 @ 110mph) were run in cold air a couple months ago.

looking at track times is like looking at uncorrected dyno numbers.

That video was posted April 6. Let's assume it was taken April 5, a Sunday. The high temp that day was 64.4 degrees, between 4:15-5:15 that evening. It wasn't exactly a hot day that day. Granted, it wasn't 34 degrees like in Michigan when they were being tested, but it wasn't 85 either.

Regardless, I doubt the difference in temperature made that car .7sec slower. My guess? The driver. Just pointing out that those magazine test drivers probably aren't as terrible as some people made them out to be. Not arguing what the car is capable of.

Sorry dude. Look at the little lights on the time board. Notice they are lit up on the Left/Challenger side.
