Prudent DD Decision: 88 5.7L IROC
http://detroit.craigslist.org/wyn/cto/1496809736.html
If he does bite for an even trade as is on Christine; would it still be a prudent move financially and practically for medium snow conditions? Toledo is in the armpit of lake Erie, so if we see snow, it's hard pressed to stay but it does get slick from time to time. I'm also 23 as you may well know; so imitating an Italian Retard Out Cruising in a Z may shred my pocket book. I'm searching for a job, as well as looking into getting a part/full time local job to help pay off loan interests and personal loans. But right now neither are coming to light. It may be desperation over practicality but I've never been one to be practical and rather enjoy 4 wheels and the road. I guess in a TL;DR sense I'm just looking for advice as I enter the real world with that monkey of a Camaro Ownership dream making a home on my back. :( |

You got me. Must be talking about the 8 digit in the VIN. Must mean factory 350. Could also be about the mileage too (69,300). Either way, KBB prices it at 2900-3400; he's close to the ball.
If it's true to word (slight possiblity) then it could work as a DD. My real question would be is it a responsible move cost wise. Maybe morally too. |

That car looks like its in crap shape. Just the body for that price you could do better, at least around here.

I love how he says it has 69,xxx original miles, then later he says the block has been bored over, and it has some redneck wheels on it and the IROC Daytona hood on it. Also, the blue IROC decals on the doors were never an option, they were never made in blue. I don't see how he could say it is an original car, just in the 4 pictures he showed I can tell you numerous things un-original about it.

WOW, yeah that looks pretty rough and anyways I don't think you want that for winter driving. I grew up not far from Toledo in Michigan and we got some hellacious winters.

Guess I'm keeping Christine for a 4.6 mod swap.

Paint is faded, their is a dent behind the bumper cover the hood looks misaligned, the decals are wrong and the pics seem to have been taken to show as little of the car as possible.
Compare the pics to this car http://www.cars.com/go/search/detail...5&aff=national

That car looks like a pile of crap. That said, a thirdgen CAN be very good in the snow. I've had a couple V6 thirdgens as winter cars, and with snow tires and 80+lbs of weight in the back, they are very, very good. I had a buddy with an 86 LB9 Trans Am with a posi rear that he drove through a number of winters also.
That said, I've had the misfortune of being caught in the snow with my GTA once. With summer tires and without weight in the back... it's a white knuckled ride. |

I dont see the rare part about this car. I had the same car for around the same price when I bought it. It was T-Tops, 350 engine, Delco Bose stereo system, Black with a brilliant blue stripe package all original. I fail to see what makes this car any more rare then what I originally had.
