Does spoiler hurt mpg by adding drag?

Does spoiler hurt mpg by adding drag? Has anyone noticed this happening after adding a spoiler? I'm trying to choose between a classic looking high peaked dove tail(top edge points almost straight up) or one that lays down flatter (top edge leans back more) . Hope that made sense.

You're exchanging drag for rear downforce and aesthetics (if you want / need them).

Don't know, I've never checked my gas mileage.

What's gas milage? I doubt it's going to be a serious draw on your milage unless your spending lots of time at higher speeds. Did you really buy a Camaro for fuel economy?

I don't know about MPG but I can tell you that I can feel my tailend set a little when I'm "slightly" exceeding the speed limit.

Yes I did get the v6 over the v8 because of fuel economy. If it was a 2nd car for fun the v8 would be the winner. Any way I'm looking for some before and after info from anyone who drove awhile before putting on a spoiler. Was it a hardly noticable at the pump or is it a few more dollars. Thanks to all who are trying to help.

When you increase the surface area of an object moving through air. The surface tension between the air and said object creates drag. Increasing drag across an object mounted to said object that angles upward through the slipstream will result in this drag turning into downforce. Faster the car's speed = greater air volume on the spoiler = greater the downforce.... Hence him feeling a dip in his ass when he speeds ... Phew, Damn!

I don't see any difference in mpg between the V6 with or without the spoiler. If you like the spoiler, put it on. Your not going to miss any mpg. Best way to get good milage is keep your foot out of it.

I have the MPD1 and have not noticed a change in gas mileage, however the amount of dirt on the back bumper and tail lights is very noticable
