I don't think my dad bought his Corvette for the "image"

To be fair, there are people that buy sports cars just for the image. God bless 'em though, because most of those douche nuggets trade them in a year later and enthusiasts pick up the car for a fraction of the price.

I own a Z06, and almost never talk about it, nor do I belong to any VETTE forum period.

I will agree, I purchased it for image, only under the pretext that I will never buy a foreign exotic (lambo, etc).

I will write, I'm not the slow type, I will put the pedal to the metal and have got tickets for laspe in judgement on the highway's

I'm strictly a GM owner...

Sorry.. but not one time will U see me in my Vette driving like a old man. Always looking for a "fight". Just recently I got into a brawl with an Audi R8 V10 and ripped that clown a new one out on 83N coming outta Baltimore. LINK

As long as my peepers are working and my Escort Passport is singing... I DRIVE.. and I DRIVE HARD. I can't recall one day in my Vette, my CTS-V, or even in my Camaro RS.. not hitting triple digits. It's just too hard not to with 480(modded and dynoed), 556, and 312HP

Have had a Vette since I was 23 years old. A 79 L82 that was always driven fast. A year later I owned a 95 LT1 to sit next to her... modded and would and did kill many a SupraTT, 3000GT, and 300Zx at the time. By age 28 got rid of both and went to a C5 LS1 that continued the lust. At age 36 bought my current C6 and the "addiction" continues.

Sure some guys buy them for your reason.. but the same goes for 911, ferrari, and Viper owners, It also might have to do with the fact that we are talking about a $50-120K Weekend Toy that most under 40 can't afford even from an INSURANCE point of view, let alone a check book one. Thus... the guys that get them may not run them as much because of a new found air of responsibility U gain at a more mature age.

Besides.. have U driven on these roads lately... between Corolla/Prius drivers and Caravan/Odyssey drivers U would be hard pressed to manuver outta their silly "ride side by side" bull$%#^.

No doubt. I'll add people texting and driving ~ weaving in out of lanes; the gawkers that see it coming and drift over into your lane. This is not specific, though, to just the Corvette. However, I don't have an endless supply of $$$ to replace a complete fiberglass body due to someone elses lack of attentive driving or complete disregard of others around them. I hit the 'loud pedal' when it's clear and permagrin ensues!

Finally a logical response regarding Corvette owners

Having one is enough of a statement. Even if you never drive it or drive it hard.

By the time most people buy Corvettes, they have already trashed out tons of cars, and they decide to treat their vette like the last new car they will ever purchase.

I have seen some vettes driven very slowly. I have also been passed like I was parked by Kias, Hyundais, and various other cars that have neither the handling or braking to control the speeds they are capable of. That being said, driving a Z06 on public roads takes some control. There is a time and place to play around but when driving a car that makes so much speed, you need to be careful about when you plant the throttle. Those who are not usually end up in a Youtube video.........

HA! There's a grandma in a Buick that passes me a couple of days a week like I'm sitting still, and I'm doing 60-65 on a 55 mph 4 lane...
