I ran out of gas once a few decades ago when i was a teenager. It sucked walking 2 miles in the heat to get gas. It NEVER happened again so the answer would be no.

Never. I almost always fill up when I hit the quarter mark. In my cruze Eco the light will turn on literally when there is about a 3/4 to 1/2 a gallon left in there. Which is about 40-60 miles

I didn't technically run out of gas, but my was tank was so low that when it was parked in a parking lot that wasn't perfectly flat, the gas shifted to where it wasn't getting drawn to the engine. Luckily my car was parked next to the miniNEX where I could buy a gas can, and the gas station was 2 blocks away from my barracks. :P

I never ever let my fuel gauge go below 1/4 tank.

Never happened to me. For those that make a habit of it, try your best not to. It's really not good for the fuel pump.

So my first track day in my camaro zl1 I filled it up ran at the track all day went home with 1/4 tank. Second Track day I filled the car up ran the same amount of time then with about 2 laps left my low fuel light came on. I thought surly I can make it... so on the last lap the car ran out of gas! So from the time the light came on it took about 5 miles to run out of gas. I was averaging 6mpg at the track that day.

I was just curious if it had happened to anyone. Looks like most of us can read the gas gauge and see the low fuel light

I drive with the tank under 1/2 a tank most of the time. I'll head to a gas station when the light comes on. I never stray far from any gas stations.

Not a great idea unless you look forward to fuel pump replacements.

OMG not another one of these threads. You do know it is taboo to even think about running any car out of gas and mention it on this forum besides. You know the experts here say that you need a half tank minimum on top of the fuel pump or it will send you into outer space and you will orbit the earth and have no way to re-enter the earths atmosphere because you may possibly have damaged the fuel pump because you don't have 15 gallons sitting on top of it to keep it cool! You would have known about the orbit thing if you had just done a search!

NO I use my father as an example. He ran out of gas on a regular basis.
I always fill up when the gage reaches 1/2 tank. Also not good to run the gas
too low as that is what keeps the fuel pump cool and happy.
