This is FAR from a just a metal tube.

True dat. I believe in my OP I also noted the fact that it's ceramic on the inside. Do people stop reading the posts if you type more than a paragraph? I know we're car people here, but c'mon.. haha.

The CAI intake tube is not the "normal" tube because they take the metal tube and ceramic coated to keep the air at ambient temperature. Thus this is why I found CAI to be the benchmark of intake systems vs everyone else. I love my system on my 08 Duramax and will get one when I order my camaro!

Pat,

Imitation?!? Coatings & Hardware & Everything is the same as yours? LOL! CAI and your product are vastly different. Just looking at your product you have two couplers with a pipe to make your intake tube which yours is only POWDER COATED vs CAI - one aluminum bent tube that is CERAMIC COATED! You have stainless steel screws vs CAI uses stainless quarter turn fasteners. You guys screw your box together
where as CAI bends and welds their box together. CAI INSULATES their box vs your box is NOT INSULATED. Jim created CAI and the design of CAI intake systems back in 2004. So it has been around for quiet some time. I'm just a satisfied CAI customer - I'd love to hear what Jim & CAI have to say about this......

Well it seems the Imitation is on the other foot.

Certainly wasn't a stab as you have obviously interpreted. It was obviously seen as a benefit by both Jim and Andy to fabricate something to seal away from the engine compartment as much as practicable !

AHHH! Didn't realize there was a ceramic coating. Very well done! My apologies.

Some interesting ideas there. Not sure of the cost to benefit ratio though. Some dyno number would be nice. All kits of this style (bent metal tube) will suffer from the fact that you cannot get a nice radius to the TB. Air doesn't turn 90° without turbulence.

ADM race has the washer bottle removed and a short ram type of tube going to the lower grille, and the MAF sensor located in the box, i don't think they are the same.

both are very nice
