Do we need a new Category "Camaro V6 LFX Engine, Exhaust, and Bolt-Ons"

So there is a topic for the category LLT V6. I think we need a new category for the LFX V6. The engine, exhaust and bolt-ons for the most part will be quite different.

Yeah, but there's not really a separate section of the forum for the L99, everything SS is pretty much lumped together so I figure it will be the same way for the V6 section. People will just need to clarify which engine they are talking about and not assume everyone has the same one. Plus, as performance upgrades come out for the LFX, I'm sure there will be those that will want to translate those improvements back to the LLT, so I imagine there will be plenty of back and forth exchange of information.

Yes there is a need, but I think there will be tons of noobs that post in the LLT section because they have no idea what the code for their engine is, or don't have enough forum experience to figure out which category to post it.

Basically, it's probably not worth it because there will be tons of people posting in the wrong sections.

When are we going to stop then we have to break up the v6 convert and v8 convert and for each model I think we are good where we are at.

These are not ZL1's. Let's not get ahead of ourselves. If they did have seperate sections for the two you'd have people posting in the wrong section(we already get SS guys making that mistake occasionally) and then there would become the lfx/llt rivalry. I say leave it combined and let people clarify what year car or which motor. As stated, the LS3 and L99 guys are smart enough to figure it out, we are too.

Agree with this, it's still a naturally aspirated v6 GM motor in a 5th Gen Camaro. Not enough difference between the two.

I voted yes, but you all make good points. I'd just hate to see someone buy headers for their new LFX. Someone will, but it might dawn on a few more that there are some differences they should be aware of.

And yes, it isn't a ZL1, but it is a new V6 all our own.

Would a cold air intake for 2011 models fit on the new LFX engine?

This was a bit of a tough call for me as the LFX is so different, but in the end I want to see what the new kids on the block are doing with their rides I think they should easily see what we've done or are doing to ours.

I can see lots of confusion coming, but in the end I voted fo same forum.

Chrizzle2LT, the 2012 apparantly has a different MAF sensor than the 2010 and 2011 models and so assuming the mounting shape is different, no current cold air intakes would work correctly. That, and we also don't know if the throttle body is exactly the same size and location/angle as before. If these two were the same, then I'd say yes a current CAI would probably work.

We need someone to confirm this stuff for us! lol. I'm thinking we will find out very soon.

I can't say yay or nay at this time cuz I don't know anyone with a 2012 LFX. Just how different are they? Nobody knows at least until we see some reviews and comparisons....right? This is a premature question if you ask me.

I wonder if the sale figure for 2012 will continue to dominate as it's been doing for 2011.

I've heard some really good things about tuning the LFX but I guess I won't spill too much beans until its actually released but it won't be a bad idea to have a seperate section for LFX but I guess only time will tell.
