Wait until your supercharger rattles. Get new one from GM.
Take off. Sell as practically new. Pocket cash. Buy Holley hi-rise intake. Turbo away. |

uhhhhh, why? Maybe some more reason on what the purpose of the trade is would help with opinions, because it's hard to see the upside from here. Like a z06 owner saying he's going to trade for a z51 corvette????

The real answer is called a C7 with the Z51 and duel mode exhaust . Because it is closer to the price of a ZL1 ,but for the money the 1LE is as good as you can do .

Trading to a 1 le is an absolute downgrade , trade up to the 2015 Z06 now we're talking !

So trade a heavier car with a supercharger for a lighter car without a supercharger and then make the lighter car heavier with a turbo?
Not sure what sense this will ever make. But I must be new or something.

I like it when lots of folk are like, "thinking about buying a higher end Camaro"... People respond "**** it buy the Vette! It's only a bit more."
But seriously.... **** it and buy a Vette

That would be the way to go ,except the 2015 Zo6 is going to cost TWICE AS MUCH AS A 1LE . The real solution is to hit the mega loto .

I have the exact car you are thinking of. My car is essentially a stock 1LE with an AGP twin turbo kit installed. It is faster in a straight line and most likely a better track car than a ZL1 with less heat soak, being lighter, having a lower center of gravity, and more powerful. But you do lose the drive train warranty. That being said, turbos are easier on the drive train than superchargers. And the Camaro drive train is pretty stout.
And don't forget the value part of the equation. A turbo 1LE is worth less than most any ZL1 and hard to trade in. But once you get past all that a turbo 1LE is a real bad boy and a kick to drive. The ride isn't so bad, although not as good as MR. And you can add the ZL1 brakes for around a grand. It is also very unique and you get instant respect from those in the know. A twin turbo 1LE does not make any sense. That is part of the fun.

These are two different cars. 1LE is lighter, ZL1 is more powerful, 1LE is more rare (13' ones), ZL1 has more comfy suspension, 1LE has competitive ones (Z28), ZL1 si more expensive, look is different, ... These are just different cars, not buying the LT<SS<1LE<ZL1<Z28. In no way going from an SS to a Z281 would be an "upgrade" if you're, for instance, looking for a comfy DD. Look what you want to do with the car then choose what is "up" or "down". I did chose a 1LE over a ZL1 because of the look (hate ZL1 rear and wing) and philosophy of the car (muscle cars should be NA, no supercharger). To the OP, just look what you need, and like, and don't think 'bout "downgradin" or not.

1LE is a great car, but you already have it with a Supercharger on it...!?!?
