What's the advantage? Looks? The zl1 and 1le already have short shifters

They are not true short throw shifters, there are several threads out there that discuss this...

The advantage is it truley is a short throw shifter.... Cuts the throw down 50%. Our stock shifter might be called a short throw shifter but install the Hurst and you will be amazed!! With the upgraded bushing.

Whats the Hurst part number? Is this specific to the ZL1? Love the look of the billet shifter. How does it feel in your hand?

I personnaly do not like the mechanical ratchity feeling with the hurst. It is an awesome shifter, I just personally don't like it.

I'm replacing my factory shifter with the ZL1 shifter, which comes with the complete assembly (not just the stick) and is supposed to be exactly the same as the 2013+ OEM factory Hurst shorth throw shifter. I know it provides only a 22% thrown reduction, which although it is half as much as the 44% reduction that the aftermarket Hurst provides, I am fine with that. However I have 2 concerns with the ZL1 shifter:

1) It's supposed to be a "fake" short throw shifter. Other than the lower thrown reduction, what is the downside to this?

2) Does it also require an upgraded bushing kit?

1. Nothing, it is still an upgrade from your old shifter.
2. No, it does not, I am not sure the bushing would fit, but I suspect they would since the sleeve pin is the same size.

Thanks Sam! So I'm assuming the ZL1 shifter doesn't suffer from the same problems the earlier OEM Hurst short throw shifter did and is therefore quieter (no noise issues) and smoother (no vibration issues)?

Correct and if you find the stock ZL1 Shifter lacking, you can always upgrade...
