Tire Pressure Questions
Good Morning:
I have the OEM 20's and had a couple questions about the tire pressure/TPMS. 1. When I got the car the tire pressure was showing uniformly in the range of 32-35 psi but I wanted to know what the recommended tire pressure was from everyone and what it was from the manufacturer? 2. It seems like I will add air to the tires to the tune of 35 or so PSI and not too much time will pass and I'll get a warning that the tires are down to 31 or 32 and this is pretty uniform (not a trouble tire for example). Anyone else see the air drop kind of quickly?

I set mine to about 40, in a couple of weeks it is at 36-37. Just easier for me to not have to add air every month.

My TPMS seems to under report. My gauge says 38-40 but the sensors report 35 -37 I don't which is wrong. I need to try another gauge I guess.

very true here. depending on temp change outside, expect to have to let air out when its warmer and add air when its cooler. my tire pressure stays pretty constant - i check it about 2x's a month. 36 psi is recommended, lower than that, decreased gas mileage, above that, may tire may wear unevenly.

mine has dropped lately on the right side for whatever reason, got the compresser out and inflated them all to 37 going with the DIC reading. they were reading 32 or lower. the 18's I run have a max 44 psi so I go with something right in the middle between 32 and 44

When taking your drivers license in Europe you are taught to check your tire pressure every time you fill up for gas, and they practice that routine quite well! Its a cheap insurance to spend 5 min a week checking pressures, instead of getting a flat tire and having an accident. 32 cold is way to low, as 40 is way to high! Tire pressures usually increase about 2-4 psi when hot, even more when driving hard. That barely gets the 32 up to the proper cold pressure, and almost to 44psi when starting at 40. I drive an average of about 45k miles/year and have done so for the past 8 years and to this date never had a single flat tire. Although just because I wrote that I'll probably wake up to 2 flat tires tomorrow morning but you get the point |

I set mine to 38 psi cold. I just got my first oil change at a chevy dealer, and today I got an email from onstar telling me that all my tires are low. Apparently they lowered all 4 tires to a cold pressure of 32 psi. To tomorrow I get to go spend a half an hour with my bike pump putting them back to 38. Fun stuff.

Yeah with my first oil change they were supposed to check the tires for me. I left with 32psi in all four. I have 35psi in them now.
