Iwantone2,
Yup, please keep us posted onChris and BlueStar. Their unit is what I want for sure, since I plan to use my shark fin cell antenna for a direct connect 3-watt amp and cell phone cradle later on this week. I have no real use for OnStar, though it's OK for free. |

Atlas100,
I'm fairly certain that replacing your VCIM module above the glove box will give you fully functional Bluetooth for your own phone, but can't speak from personal experience. The big problem seems to be getting your hands on the upgraded Bluetooth VCIM, since GM doesn't really sell them, except to replace an indentical (damaged) unit. |

Atlas100 - I believe a dealer will need to 'activate' the module also. I know when I installed my PDIM module, they needed to.

@shadoChaser
Was the activation also needed for getting the working bluetooth handsfree option? I dont need all this onstar stuff....and hoped that the radio finds the new module automatically? |

So do you have to maintain an Onstar contract to retain Bluetooth functionality? I need to figure this out before my contract expires next month!

I don't think that you need OnStar active to be able to continue using your BT connection

I haven't added the Bluetooth option for the Phone (Just the bluetooth for my Streaming Audio), but in my experience so far, the car hasn't automatically found any new hardware.
But I could be wrong on this one. |

I'm eagerly awaiting Chris's announcement that they've come up with a Bluestar unit for our 2010/2011 Camaros! Any rumors of a "group buy" when he does?

I'm still waiting as well As far as a group buy, he would need at least 10 buyers...

I see that the 2010 Camaro compass function on the center info panel comes from the GM VCIM module (I disconected the blue GPS antenna and it quit working,) so wonder if this is something that the BlueStar unit (when available) will also do, or not? I'd like to keep this function.
