I was clearly in the passing zone and could see for over a mile ahead. That's why I passed one at a time. I don't do anything risky.

I just found it odd that on only the second day in the Camaro is when it happened after 20 years.

I call these types of people "speed regulators" they feel that the correct speed limit is their speed limit, and no one is allowed to break it.

It's a daily occurrence where I live...

I run into 2 or 3 of them daily... we have a 4 lane HWY, two lanes each way... can get very congested during rush hour. Usually these people pick the passing lane as their cruising lane and stick to 55 to 60, when the posted limit is 65...

it can get irritating when you are sitting 4 or 5 cars behind the "regulator" and nothing but open HWY in front of him and a LOOOONG line behind him... they like to shadow people in the slow lane. I don't understand. I truly believe people have gotten worse at driving during the last 5 years.

People feel the need to police the highways and so they resort to tactics that someone in grade school would do. Just take the high ground and ignore it. I got called a "poopy head" recently by a lovely Pittsburgh driver because they thought i was going too slow even though i was 10 miles over the speed limit. Most people on the road are actually pretty decent. It's the 10% that give the rest of us a major headache.

So, I bought my Camaro in late January and yesterday was the first day I've actually driven it because the weather is finally warm and sunny. I just LOVE my Camaro.

Today, I drove my Camaro to work again. On my drive home from work, there was a line of about 5 cars on the 2 lane state highway I drive on. They were going pretty slowly (50ish and the speed limit is 55). I usually drive 60 on this road and have been commuting on it for 20 years and not one ticket.

So, I passed them one at a time. Not flying in and out like an ijit, but carefully, using my directinals to indicate my intent, and taking my time as it is safe to do so. The last car to pass was a Nissan Altima. As I pulled out to pass (not wildly and flooring it, but at a reasonable pace), the driver of the Nissan puts his arm out the window and flips me off as I go by looking just irate at me. I did not "acknowledge" his flip and I just continued on and set the cruise to 60 and kept on going.

Now, I have no idea why this guy would flip me off like this. What did I do that should piss him off like this? I honestly was NOT driving like a maniac, but in a very civilized manner.

I realize this is not a profound topic, but I'm counting on you, my Camaro colleagues, to help me explain this curious behavior.

Maybe you should call Dr. Phil instead of looking for advice here???

was it a HYBRID Altima by any chance?

could be a greeny doubly pissed because you are driving a Camaro and also going what he considers to be "too fast"

I notice that the older I get, the less patient I am driving. I know it's not supposed to work that way, but it does for me. The other night going home I passed someone on a solid double yellow b/c he was absolutely creeping like a rash.... plus was nearly coming to full stops over speed bumps.... I couldn't take it, and there was no danger, so I went around him. I also did not zoom around him, I just went around him.... I'm sure he probably thought I was a maniac anyway....

I 'spose legal in your case, or illegal in mine, people probably still think they have a right to drive as slow as they please, and more than likely take offense when people pass them.... Not that I'm losing sleep over it of course....
