The big decision: House or Camaro
I ended up choosing to buy a house...its being built and I will take possesion mid June. But I still can't wait to own one...Hopefully in a few years when my current car is paid off and I get some student loans paid off.

Smart play. They aren't the easiest to make, but in the long run you will be MUCH better off.

+1... now is the time to buy a house which is an investment. As much as I love my Camaro, it won't be considered an investment anytime soon.

Choice? What choice? Buying a house was the wise decision. Quite frankly, all those people who don't have a house and are saving all their nickels and dimes for a Camaro are the most foolish people on the planet. Take real estate prices 10 years ago and compare them to now - the increase has been phenomenal.
Take car prices 10 years ago to now - I think the price has actually gone backward compared with inflation! I am concerned how my kids are going to afford housing for themselves when they start working, and I've already started saving for their housing deposit. By that time houses will be average $1.5M or more (real-estate increases have exceeded the rate of salary increases for several decades now. As the population of N.America continues to explode - that trend will continue). So for those who bought a fancy Camaro before owning a home, they are incredibly short-sighted and unwise. Unfortunately for financial advice is: nobody bloody well follows them. Everyone has to learn it the hard way! You tell the poor shmo working two jobs to save it for housing/rainy-day and they go and buy the Camaro anyway. Well it's too late for them, but if you're reading this forum and you haven't bought a Camaro yet, learn from my friend of my age: he has a stay-at-home wife, a toddler and a young infant. Because he wasn't as ambitious as me and didn't think as far ahead, he is still renting a place, paying the same amount on rent as I am on my mortgage. At this rate, I wonder how on earth is he EVER going to afford a place based on his salary which I estimate to be around $50k. When I think about his situation I honestly feel depressed, because you CAN reach a stage when housing creeps so far ahead of you that you can never catch up to it. I've lived in cities where that has happened. But folks - this is free advice for your own benefit, not to steal anyone's Camaro joy. Think 3 steps ahead - that's the only way to survive in this world.

Good choice. You can't live in a Camaro and even if you could it has about zero chance of sustained appreciation.

Glad to see you made the right choice. I do not know about the rest of you, but it erks me to no end when I see people who have expensive cars and live in apartments. To me that’s just a bad choice of priorities.

You can sleep in your car, but can not drive your house. How are you going to get to work? Get the car. JJ.
