Just thought of a great idea to get a 2010 for cheap. Opinions?

Ok guys, I'm getting my license April 13th, the production for the 2010 end on April 11th. So I was thinking, won't the dealerships want to get rid of the 2010's, so they can make room for the 2011's? So they are pretty much automatically lower the prices for the 2010's right? I know that people do this all the time, I was just wondering if you guys thought the same because this is such a hot car right now, they probably won't even need to lower the price, they will still be bought no matter what. What do you guys think?

It's not necessarily that simple.
Granted, they might try to unload their excess stock, but they'll also try to get as much money as possible for it. They still have to buy the cars, after all.
Plus, production for the 2010's ends on the 11th. It's still going to be a week or two before the last one rolling off the line ends up at a dealership.

I think you're over-estimating the discount as well. It probably won't be anything more than a couple grand or an incentive to buy (maybe extended warranty or cash back for a certain trade-in).
Good luck though. You're gonna have an awesome first car.

like coolman said, maybe you can catch the right deal, but while there are cars on the lots theres not a glut of them, its not like dealers are sitting on 20 or 30 like Malibus, they aren't gonna drop their pants so easily. Its worth a shot but don't expect to steal one, you won't.

Since, technically, the 2010's are good untill September, don't look for dealers to be making price cuts. April, May and June are also prime sportscar sales months, so don't hold your breath.

A while back ago, I went on the main chevy/camaro website and saw they were doing $3000 cash back or discount or w/e. I saw this a few months ago and now I see they don't even discount it anymore. Anybody might know the reason why?

Summer is coming, the Camaros are going to be in high demand no need to discount them.

Wait until Jun/Jul and you'll start seeing great deals on remaining 2010's. Once the 2011's are on the lots, no one will buy a 2010 w/o great incentives. If you're a good negotiator you can get $2K+ off a 2SS now, so look for $3K off in Jun.

But by the time June/July rolls around, you'll only be able to take your pic of whatever's remaining on the lot, which may end up being only 1LT's and LS's, no RS-package, no C&C-package, and just generally random assortments of trims/options.

Sure, you may be able to get a Camaro for a few grand off, but is it going to be the exact one you want? Well, that may take some serious dealership window shopping...

You can forget it I went last week to try and snag a deal on the RS I'm ordering and they didn't budge at all.

These cars are in demand, if you don't want to pay MSRP or up for one there are certainly others out there who will.

I'm pretty sure this is a mistake, I have been watching the pricing / incentives on the Camaro for about 6 months and there has been basically nothing; if there was $3,000 cash back, I would own one right now . . .

As far as what will happen this summer -- I am also waiting for some kind of incentives / deals, but I doubt we will see anything until the fall. The 2010 production does not stop until June or July which is when the 2011 production starts; so don't expect anything until after that . . . maybe when the 2011's start hitting the lots, if there are any 2010's left at that time, there might be some deals.

If you are looking for a good price, consider a used rental car . . . they are mostly V6 with automatic transmission, and everybody will warn you they have been beat on, but they are starting to show up in the low 20's

There was never a $3,000 cash back on the Camaro. People don't read the fine print.

As for the Rental Cars....avoid them at all cost, the money you save is not worth the money you're likely to have to put into them.
