speeding ticket
I got my first ticket with this car yesterday. going down rt.95 in fl. guy in a red charger R/t tried racing me.... haha of course it wasnt much of a race. but anyway we were going through an overpass, he was about 1& 1/2 leagths behind me and his detector must of got the signal before mine cause he slammed on the brakes then mine went off. She was sitting in the median somewhat near the wall of the overpass and i was in the left lane and didnt have much time to brake
She was really quite nice about it considering she clocked me 105 and only gave a ticket for 74 in 65. i thanked her plenty for the break and when on at normal pace the rest of way. |

Wow, all of teh times that I've gone down 95 in FL, it seems like 105 is the normal speed limit down there!

That's awesome, reminds me of when I was 18, going about 80 in a 25. My friend was a ways back from me doing the same thing. He got pulled over & the cop let him go. He didn't tell me he got pulled over for a few hours... I don't think I've gone more than 5 over in town since then. Wow, stupid days.

You are lucky , if you ran into me, you would have gotten the 105 and probably a ride to jail and your car impounded for racing. Doing 105 is going to get someone killed. It's reckless and stupid. Save it for the track and have some consideration for the drivers around you.

Speed limits are arbitrary IMO. 105 seems like a reasonable speed on a highway if you are driving a car like the Camaro SS which is engineered to safely, properly, and consistently drive much, much faster than that.

Heres a short story with a happy ending: Two months ago I got a ticket on an Interstate Hwy in a nearby state (not Connecticut) for going 91 in a 65 in my Camaro. State trooper would not listen to any excuses, just said over 90 is 6 points !. I pleaded not guilty and went for a court "plea bargain" last Thursday- 200 mile round trip. I showed up one hour early, 8:00 AM, and the court judges assistant was the only one there that early- (i don't know his title). I started talking to him and he almost immediately offered my a reduced charge of 81 in a 65. I continued shooting the breeze with him, being as nice as I could explaining no tickets in over 10 years, etc. I asked if he could reduce it further or make it an Improper turn, etc. He said the judge would never go along with that but he would talk to her. So I waited until my turn with the judge. Oh, I said I would make this short- Paid $100.00 fine for a seatbelt infraction- 0 points !.
If there are lessons here it's (1 don't speed and stay out of the left lane (2 be nice and kiss butt in court. (3 Wear a suit, get a haircut. It was obvious this judge had little patience for some of the smart ass baggy paints baseball wearing dopes before me. I havn't gone more than 5-10 over since I got this ticket- Thats killing me. |

In Baton Rouge, police issue tickets for 7 over or more. I go 5 over and set the cruise control if my foot feels kind of heavy - and that's in a Kia Optima. I'm going to have to use the cruise control pretty often when I get my Camaro.

Don't even get me started with the tickets here in Cali. They can now pull you over for going 3mph over the speed limit instead of 5mph. And to the OP that got caught going over 105, over here you would've got your licensed suspended for a whole year and a hefty ticket! Your really lucky.
