Requesting input on surging problem

This just started last night. Car is a 2012 ZL1 auto bone stock. When starting out (in either M or D mode) when care hits about 20mph it bucks fairly hard. I thought it was the trans shifting into 3rd but, when I go to M and put it in 2nd and leave it there, it does the same thing. Then when cruising at 38 to 40 the car surges as rpms jump up and down about 200 or so (not moving throttle at all). This surging is continuous until I speed up. When I speed up it runs smooth and when accelerating hard from a stop there is no surging.
No codes are showing. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Alan

Agreed, try giving it a clean. Mine gets a little surgy/unstable when it gets dirty.

Throttle position sensor on the TB.

Your description is exactly what was happening when mine went bad.

When I checked my old gen camaro with a ohm meter connected to a bad TPS, it would have dead spots and jump around a lot in measurements. It was very easy to see and fix.
Update:
Maybe it's built into the throttlebody now and not quite as cheap and easy to fix
https://repairpal.com/problems/chevrolet/camaro+zl1 "throttle position sensor notorious for failure". But not so hard or expensive either, I'd give it a try myself if I didn't have a warranty and MAF cleaner spray didn't fix it.

Having what seems like the same problem with my 2015. If you set it on cruise at 57 mph, does yours also hunt up and down in rpm? Just a couple hundred.

Exactly! Except it is doing it at 40 or so. Last night went for a ride; same symptoms until I was almost home then they all went away. Drove today and all was perfect.(?) Still going to take it in to get it checked out.

Yeah it's the little black box looking thing on the side of the TB. Rock Auto has them for like 40 bucks. The LS3 TPS is held on the TB by 4 torq screws. I assume the LSA TB is probably the same
https://www.rockauto.com/en/catalog/...sor+(tps),5136

Edit: LSA TPS looks like its held on by some little metal clips.
