true or false... z28 v6?

t or f... this is what i heard...

due to the recent testing of the v6 motor, alot of..."testers" were dissapointed with the fact gm will be making a v8 and a v6 with the v8 having the beefier more sporting suspension while the v6 version only gets "basic" of the counterparts... and because the v6 is so well recieved... it is a shame that this has to happen... so i heard people talking that a z28 might in fact be a hopped up version of the v6 with even better suspension than the v8 ss...

hey... dont shoot the messenger...

I doubt this is true since I remember hearing that the Z28 badge will not go to an undeserving car (which to most pple is a v6.) Also, I would guess the V6 suspension is not as nice simply to keep price down. But that is a good point, so maybe the sport suspension should be an option for like LT models?

I heard the Camaro will have wings and fly. That's not true either.

In all seriousness, we know that the Z28, if ever produced, would have to earn its badge with some incredible performance. If a V6 can deliver that performance without marginalizing those who demand it be a V8, then it is possible. I find the idea of a V6 twin turbo intriguing, but I also find it highly unlikely.

Yeah I don't see GM, or anyone for that matter, being able to mass produce a fuel efficent 500+hp V6 dual turbo with enough torque for a "muscle car" any time soon.

dunno, they made a single turbo v6 that was faster than the vette back in the day.....

in a GNX but the same concept applies.

however, i VERY, HIGHLY, SERIOUSLY DOUBT that a v-6 Camaro will EVER be labeled with Z28 from the factory. if anything, once initial production starts and orders are filled, if GM can sell enough of the V6's and SS's to justify all they've gone thru to bring back the Camaro, I imagine we will see a forced induction Z28 in the years to come. but keep in mind, i said YEARS. i dont expect to see a Z28 on the table (not just under the cloth tempting us) untill 2011. it sucks, but thats life. everyone wants this car to have a bazillion horsepower and put gas back into the tank instead of burning it, and a million other things that just isnt possible right now.

as Scott has stated before, the Z28 is not dead. its just been put on the back burner till GM can justify building one for the masses.

cus I can tell you right now, take the SS pricing and add about 10k to it for any decent guesstimate on a price for a s/c Z28 in the next 2 years. as ive stated before, i would imagine, GM will grind this car as much as they can getting the units sold and when it comes time for our 45th anniversary....bum bum buuuuuum. Z28 LS9 Camaro.

With all of the rumors flying around, anything that anyone almost hears now is hard to believe.

But this "rumor" wouldn't surprise me. Although most of us have heard that if the Z28 comes out it'll be the highest performing vehicle to combat the GT500 and SRT-8.
I think if GM came out with the Z28 and threw it between the SS & LT that would one. Drive the price of the SS prob up into the 40k's (which would upset everyone here)
And 2 they couldn't just use same the V6 and expect it to compete with the GT & R/T.

They would have to at least bump up the power of the V6 to like 350hp or something...

The simple way of getting around this would be to just offer the FE3 (or is it FE5?) suspension as an option for the V6 Camaro.

But anything that happens with the Camaro wouldn't surprise me...

Okay, there is this little car company called PORSCHE, or look at the GT-R...You truly underestimate the power of a twin-turbo 6-cylinder...seriously...GRAND NATIONAL....SUPRA

Yeah I know cars like the 911 GT2 have awesome V6's but considering the torque on that engine is comparable to the V6 Camaro's, I just can't see that in a Z28. Also the 911 GT2 is like 750 pounds lighter. Maybe its just me, but I would want the Z to be heavy with lots of torque like a traditional muscle car and not like a track/sports car like the 911. But hey, times are changing and maybe that type of car is dead. Also I wouldn't like to see the Z too much over the price of the GT500, so the 911's $200k sticker is out of the question.

Despite how much that would rock I can't see that happening - making a top-dog Camaro near equal to the top-dog Vette. True it would be slower due to weight and aerodynamics, but still it would be close, too close for GM I would imagine.

BZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ wrong, totally “False”… Try again. There is a difference between the suspension on the base and step up versions on the V6. The SS1 and SS2 come with the same suspension. As of right now there are no plans to have a V6 with the SS suspension. But never say never… Would not be the Z28.
