I'd accept it ONLY if its changed to fully-refundable and if he agrees to put up barriers around the car and to not allow anyone to sit inside/touch it (and includes a full damage waiver).

Other than that 7 days of publicity for the dealer and a reduced price for you seems like a pretty fair deal. Just hope that MSRP isn't set too close to invoice.

he should definitely give you a sweet deal because to make some who has been waiting this long wait another 7 days is tough.

Right, I made sure to emphasize that and he was quite to make sure I knew that nobody would be getting near it. I agree, not knowing the price is sort of worrisome, but looking at other cars that are comparable the MSRP tends to be at least around $1500 - $2000 over invoice.

Well so long as it's in writing and you're comfortable with all the provisions then go for it and may I offer a hearty congratulations.

What exactly are you ordering, btw?

He said I will get the first one.
If this goes though then I would do it.

I'm sure the whole point of them wanting to keep it on the showroom floor for 7 days is so other customers can sit in and touch it.

As I have said multiple times now, the deal was that it would be for eyes-only and nobody would be touching it or getting near it. That came straight out of their mouth. I would not agree to it otherwise and that will be in writing.

yea but still, a lot of dealers can't be trusted. they may say that and then when someone who is on the edge of buying it. they may try to pull them over the top by saying something like, "ill let you sit in our showroom one to see if you like it. you'll be the first and only to do this special treatment."
and then you will NEVER know, unless maybe you ask to get it in writing that you can look through the security tapes of your camaro. that would be gooooooood.

Never tolerate a non-refundable deposit. Without a test drive, it is really hard to judge a car. We all love the Camaro heritage and that it is coming back, but if we don't like the test drive, we won't buy it. Get it refundable or go somewhere else.
