As far as prices it's multiple reasons why it's so high as one poster said in her area fires.
That's why I said "I know we are talking had the time" then I used 4 years as a bench, not 8.

No worries, I'm pushing yours as well. I just would like people to see all sides, not just their side (speaking generally).

About $6.75 Canadian here in Vancouver area. Never pay it! Head across to Washington state every Saturday! Just over 4 bucks last weekend ;-)

Sounds like you found a way to cheat the pump.

I can remember .19 cents and stations gave stuff away with fillups. Early 70's. Most of the pumps were analog so when gas went over a dollar they set the price on the pump at half and then would double that when done pumping. Gas would be $1.20, the pump would show $.60 so $5.00 on the pump was $10.00 worth.

So, the Government jumped in and implemented price controls around 1981 that sent gas prices over $1 for the first time.

What that embargo did, and it was an embargo, not shortage as it is commonly refered to, was show the oil companies that americans will buy gas no matter what they set the price at. Regular was still at $1/gal in Tennessee in 1996-97 when i was working there.

I worked at a couple gas stations in the 70's and regular was .28 and (Ethyl) was .30 cents. We thought that was high. Customers still got the oil checked and tires checked and windshield cleaned with a fill up.

The only energy crisis we have ever faced has been fabricated by oil companies, investors and politicians. There has never been a true shortage of oil and won't be for at least 300 years. There is plenty there, it is just getting harder to produce and that difficulty is part of what is driving the prices.

I paid $3.79 for 93 octane Tuesday.

Why are people posting prices for regular??

I drink single malt Scotch, my 2SS/RS drinks premium. It's a fact proven by science.
