Much of that road is winding, mountain roads where going much faster than 70 would be reckless. Maybe attempt to drive the speed limit or at least no faster than the line of traffic permits you to safely drive. Try enjoying the gorgeous scenery we have here that is possibly the most awesome scenery east of the Mississippi.
Really?

I drive I-81 between Roanoke and Dublin several times a year and I will agree that it is a beautiful stretch of highway when it's green or the leaf's are changing colors but not so much when everything is brown. That being said, incarcerating someone for speeding with a fairly clean MVR is absolutely ludicrous!!! I hope this judge gets a taste of his own medicine one day!

On an onother note, the "Saftey Corridor" on I-81 just south of Roanoke has nothing to do with SAFETY. It's just a REVENUE PRODUCING SPEED TRAP.

I had a ticket for 79 in a 55 on my record when I moved to Blacksburg, Virginia to attend grad school back in '80. I received the ticket in Arkansas, and in those days it was just a $35 fine there (I'd also caught a break from the trooper who'd pulled me over since he got me doing 91). However, I had to get high-risk insurance because 24 over the limit was considered reckless driving in VA. Ended up trading in my '78 Camaro for a Chevy Chevette because I couldn't afford the insurance payments after that. With the POS Chevette I rarely was able to break the speed limit so at least it kept me out of any trouble with the VA traffic cops...

Good read.

If you don't drive 75-80 around Atlanta, you'll get run over. Haha.

That's the truth. I have family that lives there. I noticed the same thing about east Texas driving to the fest last year. I was in the middle lane doing 75 and got passed like I was standing still by 18 wheelers on both sides on I-10.

Wow... I can't say my story can compare, however I thought I would share.

Many years ago I was written for 86 in a 50 on Rt. 23 here in NJ. I was driving a modded 944t at the time, very capable of "safely" driving 85ish mph on a three lane highway. It was a Sunday with not another car in sight. The cop wrote me the summons and sent me on my way.

I went to court and found out that the judge views speeding in a similar way, reckless...

30 mph over was the "threshold" for my egregious act and I lost my license for 6 days.

Needless to say, I always pick my spots now and usually keep my speed in check...
