Rotors and surface rust
Bought new 2011 vert about 2 months ago and when we took delivery it had some surface rust on the rotors, so we took it in and after a little talk they did some chemical wash and it took care of it. Now I notice today its back on all four wheels Anyone with any ideas Thanks

if it's on the area that contacts with the brake pads the surface rust will show up every time they get wet, but driving a few blocks and braking a couple times removes the rust. If you are talking about the inner part of the rotor where it is mounted, you'll probably have to paint the area to stop any rust from appearing. obviously you can't paint the area that has contact with the brake pads
But if it is the first case, this happens on most all cars with disc brakes. I am assuming there are some cars with expensive brake components that won't rust, but I know that I've seen rotor rust on BMWs and Acuras as well as non luxury brands.

Rotors are unfinished iron. It is normal for some surface rust to appear. Just drive the car around the block and it will come off.

Don't wash your car or drive it in the rain....you'll have a REALLY dirty car but never have rust on the rotors.....
Rust on rotors is normal if it sits after they've gotten wet. More noticeable on cars with large rotors and lots of gaps in the wheel spoke spacing....

Rust on Rotors...
After a while your tires will start wearing down too.

Yes, driving helps.
If you do aftermarket rotors later, I like rotors like EBC that come with a coating that will stay on for a while (so the centers don't rust where the pads can't rub it off). |

Granatelli has a nice black zinc coating that holds up well and looks great. The pricing is pretty well also.
