Camaro vs. Camaro
One of my friends says he would beat me on the strip and he is pretty confident about it to. I was wondering what you all thought on this. I don't know everything on his car but we shouldn't be racing for a while which will give me more time to mod my car.
His Car: 2000 Camaro V8 - Rebuilt Transmission - Header Back Exhaust - Email Tune - Manual Trans ??? My Car: 2010 Camaro V6 1LT/RS - Auto Trans - Vararam CAI - Flowmaster Exhaust - Black Ice-Olator - CNC Ported Throttle Body - Trifecta Tune Coming Soon: - OBX Headers - Nitrous System I'm pretty sure with the headers and nitrous it wouldn't be to hard to beat him, but without both or without nitrous I'm not exactly sure. Whats your thoughts? I know that the V6's these days have just as much HP as the last gen but the newer ones are also much heavier.

You on the stock tires? What size shot? What tires does he have? Can he drive?

I'm on stock tires still, and I'm not sure how good of a driver he is. I would be running a 100 shot when I get nitrous. So with what I have now I wouldn't stand a chance?

With a 100 shot and the stock tires I figure you should be mid 12s with some practice. I would give you the edge. If he can't launch it or misses a gear you will slaughter him.

Without the nitrous, even with all your mods, it will be like kicking a puppy for him. With nitrous, driver's race.

With the 100 shot I'd say you will get him if he is mostly stock. If he has headers and or supporting mods, plan on getting passed. Good luck and let us know!

Like others are saying...without the nitrous you lose unless he spins badly on the launch and has to play a big game of catch up.
With the nitrous you should have a good chance of winning. V6s here running between a 100 and 125 shot have ran anywhere from a low 13 on street tires all the way to a high 11 second quarter mile so the potential to destroy him is there....but you'd need to be running a drag tire setup and launch hard to get close to that time lower time.

Also consider he has a manual, yours is a 6 speed auto. With a good stall, your car will more consisitently launch low numbers more often than a manual car.

No way you will win without the N20. With it it just depends whos the better driver.

My 2002 went 12.8@109 with a lid (equivalent mod to the 5th gen's CAI), ported throttle body, and Flowmaster muffler. Just because those cars were rated 305-325hp on paper did not mean that's what they were actually making at the crank (this was back when GM did not let anything near Corvette specs). Couple that with them being several hundred pounds less means they have no problems with 5th gen V6's -- even LS3/L99 cars are a drivers race mod for mod.
With that said, I think you should race him and record it from your POV
