I'm getting rid of AFM very soon. The hell with LOMA, getting me a valley cover and LS7 lifters. I will keep VVT though since it kicks ass on the street and at the track. The fuel saving is only about 7% with AFM combined with VVT. Is it really worth it?

Nope. Getting rid of AFM was one of the best things I did to this car. It doesn't belong on a Camaro in any shape or form, in any gear or at any speed. Just my opinion

Have they tested if it actually improves milage???

I know my L99 did not loose any milage after a good tune and turning off the AFM system so to me its a no brainer, get rid of it and the weak lifters along with it. That is my next upgrade to do, cam and LS3 conversion.

Can you keep afm (tuned for 6th gear only) and get rid of the weak lifters?

No flicking a switch because your computer is doing all the work. You'd just have to have it pre programed into the tune and meet requirements in of Speed and RPMs area in your tune. You'd still have drone as normal with low RPMs, but improved fuel milage.

What's your thoughts,

This isnt anything "NEW" just so you know. ARD here in Houston has been doing this since 2009 when the Camaro first came out. ARD leaves it up to the customer when he wants it on and off. We've had a few guys keep it active in only 5th and 6th gear and they've also completely removed it and by their reports on long highway trips the fuel mileage was better with the afm turned on by 3-5 mpg from what I can recall.

Then AFM has to go. I'll still stick with VVT though.

AFM/DOD for a V8 Camaro was the worst idea in the long sad history of bad ideas.

Getting rid of AFM was the main reason I blew the warranty.

Phil does great work.

This would greatly appeal to anyone who wants their vehicle tuned, but is on the highway almost everyday or drives the highway a vast majority of the week..even still it may not appeal to all of you. It appears from the post that Phil is not asking if it would be good for your vehicle, but a good idea in general to be available to customers...and that answer is yes. Wouldn't do it for mine because I almost never hit the interstate...otherwise, I would have had to seriously consider..

Same here. Hated that the car sounded like a Honda with a fart can on it.

I'd be certainly interested in this as my car is a daily driver on the highway.

Not that I got the car for MPG, but every little bit helps.. And certainly in 6th gear and cruising at stable speed..
