Thermal reduction plates
Has anybody here, like the C7 Z06s considered running thermal reduction plates in their ZL1s?
If so, what are the benefits observed and secondly, does this require a tune? |

Fasterproms has a setup, and they're local to me. It's most likely something I'll do when the car finally gets delivered.

Has anyone done this on a 2017 or later ZL1 yet? I'm about to tear my car down tomorrow to start my mods. I have a set being delivered but I still don't know for sure if I should put them on. I completely agree with Fasterproms assessment and his results and that is why I bought them. I believe the stock HX and pump are great on the ZL1 and we just need more fluid volume and either spacer plates or a 3rd HX added. I don't think it's worth the $ to do the huge bumper or trunk tanks, interchiller etc..... this issue can be solved for a reasonable cost and the spacers may just be the fix but what I have not found answers to yet is:
- do they fit with without the supercharger lid hitting the underside of the hood? - did the same belt work for you or did you need a slightly longer one. - did you see them work ie: lower IAT2's? - do they seal completely against the head with no vacuum leaks? I'm uneasy about not having a gasket on the head side.... - if they seal well against the head initially did you see any change in the seal over time due to the nylon being exposed to high heat for long periods of time? - other comments or observations on your install? |

I have them. They work. I used grey silicone between them and the heads. You need a 1” longer belt. Hood clears. makes heat soak take waaaay longer to occur. Also recovery time after a pull is quicker. On a street car in stop an go traffic in 90 degree weather, it won’t help. definitely happy with mine. (Heads/cam over 800hp stock blower)

Thanks for the quick reply Rabbit!
I was considering use RTV on the head side as well. I'm also not thrilled about changing the port alignment between head and sc but again the results seem to show its not an issue. I also have a 2.31 pulley so I might get away with the stock belt since the pulley is smaller or so you also have a smaller than stock pulley? Thanks again! |
