Anybody wet sand a 5th Gen Camaro?

No way in hell I'd ever attempt to buff wetsanding scratches by hand. I never went courser than 2000.

I know a beginner should not wet sand a car like this. I was just curious as to how many people have wet sanded their 5th Gen and how it went. Any other experience/comments would be great. Thanks.

Glaze. The key word. Glaze is used to fill in paint damage, not remove it. If you put enough light on what you did, you will still see the scratches. Now if you're not going for perfection, then that doesn't matter. But if you want it perfect, you're going to have to buff that out with a machine.

Oh, I know it's not perfect. But we don't have machine and won't get one for a while. But this works for now.

I have been detailing for 22 years and have about as much experience as anyone in regards to restoring a cars finish and it is my experience that you shouldn't try to fix something that is not already broken. I wont go and whip out a buffer on a car unless it looks bad. if something is looking bad then what do you have to lose? it already looks like shizz then by all means play around and make it look better. I would not reccomend taking a perfectly fine new camaro and busting out wet sanding to make it shinier. my experience with wet sanding is that once you have done it your cars finish life will be reduced greatly unless it was sprayed really thick to allow for wet sanding. these cars are not sprayed thick by any stretch of the imagination. i actually had my new 2011 camaro bumper pulled off and resprayed because i could see pinholes through the rear bumper which tells me the paint had minimal coverage.

How deep is the scratch anyway? I've successfully removed many scratches without wet sanding, or at least improved them to where they wren't visible to someone whe didn't know they were there anyway. Have you tried to remove it by hand....your post didn't say so? Can you post pics.
