Best dealer in the Bay Area?
TL;DR: Any good, trustworthy dealers in the Bay Area?
I really need to find a dealer that I can at least somewhat trust in the Bay Area. I'm from San Jose so around that area would be great but I'm willing to go quite a ways to find a good one (within reason). I bought my car from Fremont Chevrolet and they aren't TOO bad but I haven't been too impressed with their Service Department. Gave Courtesy Chevrolet a try and the results were about the same. The reason I ask is that I've got the typical 2nd gear grind going on and I would really like to get it fixed under warranty. The problem is, it's pretty intermittent so I'm afraid the dealers I mentioned above will just tell me that there's "no problem." :(

I've been dealing with Fremont Chevy for a while, and like you said, they are just ok. I also have experience with Boardwalk Chevy in Redwood City. They seem more professional and know what they are doing. They service VW, Mazda and Lotus so you can really go wrong.

Abel Chevrolet, Ask for Rich Wilhoff. They're out in Rio Vista, but worth the drive.
Courtesy Chevy, ask for Dennis Lowe if you're looking a little more local. |

This. I live in Dublin and make the drive to Abel for warranty issues (of which they are doing a ton of it as we speak).

Go to Courtesy and ONLY DEAL WITH Dennis Lowe 408-572-8990. Tell him Bobbie with the yellow Camaro referred him. He will take very good care of you, I promise.

Rich and his team at Abel. They just replaced an engine for me under warranty and I can honestly recommend them. The drive may be discouraging, but its 100% worth it.
And just a note about your repair OP, I also had a hard to hear noise that another dealer told me was normal. Rich took me seriously and thanks to both him and his team, they found the issue and worked with GM to get my engine replaced.

Thanks for all the replies guys. I'm probably going to try Courtesy simply because the logistics of getting two cars up to Rio Vista (so I can drop one off) is... problematic. I will keep Abel in mind though just in case. Probably going to try and get this handled after the new year.
If I go to Courtesy, I will definitely ask for Dennis Lowe and tell him Bobbie and Jay sent me

I've heard nothing but great things about Abel Chev. Been there only for their chevy show but spoke to lots of people that love that place.

Wherever you go form a relationship with the service writer. Make them your best friend. Let him/her know you are a car guy and really care about your car. Along these lines it is best to start with a referral.
Under no circumstances ever let any of them wash your car though. Swirls will result. Good luck!
