Broken Bleeder
OK so im going through my brake system.
I finally bought track pads and using the OEM Brembo Ferodo HP pads for street. All new fluid after boiling fluid last track day. Driver front inside bleeder snapped off real quick. Its not leaking. Question is this. Is it OK to just use the outer bleeder to fully bleed? Thats what i did and got foam and burn color fluid out. Just want your thoughts of if its safe for street use untill i can pull that caliper off to backout the broken bleeder. |

Given how crappy you say the fluid is, you won't get it out of that side and could have issues. That said, as long as you are taking it easy on the street, it should be ok temporarily. Good luck getting it out, I ended up replacing a caliper because of a broken bleeder.

This cost me a $1000 on my ZL1 when it snapped off and I couldn't back out the bleeder screw......

Will i NOT be able to suck out fluid all the way through? Push all the fluid out with standard bleed way with copilot pushing brake pedal as i loosen outside bleeder valve?
I have another set of front Calipers. But i need to do a piston dust coverchange. I need to swap out bad install new. Hot track brakes sortah melted the piston dust covers. Ill have to look into how difficult it is to upgrade them. |

It just won't get out the fluid from the broken side of the caliper, so you'll get about 60% swapped out. I wouldn't run it like that on the track, but street should be ok.

Worst case on the repair if the bleeder just won't come out would be to drill, tap and put in something like Wilwood 220-0627 Brake Bleeder
Hopefully it will come out with an easy out. You could remove the caliper and get all the fluid out that way and then bleed it, but I'm with Larry. Ok for daily driving but would not want track it like that.

Alright.
I’ll definitely take off caliper to get the bottom bleeder part out. Hopefully it comes out easily. Rebuild piston dust cover kit for other set of calipers aren’t cheap. I’m getting $45 a caliper? Thanks for all your guys input. |

Some guys don't replace those dust covers because they just keep melting if you track. Even ZL1 brakes melt the dust covers.

My guess is it will make you have to change fluid more often and maybe it reduces your rebuild interval, but they don't make a Teflon dust covers and they melt every time you go to a road course that requires a lot of braking, especially if you are running SS brakes. I ended up upgrading to the ZL1 fronts. Ducting might help some.

Yeah ive got ducts to install.
Ive been looking at upgrading to 6 piston front calipers. Budget just not there yet. Probably time for another track day coaching session. |

Never melted on my ZL1 6 pison brembos when I tracked.
Alum calipers with steel bleeders are a PITA.
