I've used it two or three times just messing around and my car is no worse for the wear. Like others have said though, you can launch it better on your own. I would never use it if I was racing and probably won't ever use it again. It's more of a novelty than anything.

Don't tell the dealer you were using it when your tranny , axle or what ever breaks.

The video a few posts above where GM demos it on a Vette. Jokes about Nissan Voiding warranties for it,, and GM doesnt.

So if they don't void warranties for using it.. Then why would you not tell the dealership?

I use it sometimes just playing around. A nice feature but you can definetly do better on your own without it.

I still wanna see how it works.. And say if I do try it will the dealer know that's war I did and will it end up voiding the warentee.. It seems like it's a good perk for the car except for hearing about things breaking and snaping ya no
I did it on my V6 for S's and G's. Of course there's no actual launch control though. What I don't get are the people busting their cars. I just can't see that happening. I mean honestly, they must have tested this feature extensively. So the question is, what's different about the users car over the manufacturers?

Does'nt it just disable the traction control? How can you launch any car when the traction control is slowing you down. I say hit the button and nail it if you want to launch it, just dont side step the clutch... be reasonable

I love my m6 but I deff drive her hard and with all the out put shaft stories I worry about it messing up. I know the performance to price of car ratio is awesome but come on put a drive train that can handle the motor. I would have been happy to pay more money and not have to worry about it. I dont see the point of the launch control.

No it does more that just disable traction control. It holds a certain RPM

When you dump the clutch, and keep it floored it electronically controls the amount of gas and monitors wheel spin (even as you keep it floored) to give consistant launches.

(that is my understanding of it)

That's what I would do if I was using Launch Control to smoke the other guy's car. ( If I'm racing/donuts/burn-outs, GM may think I was abusing the car).

I did the burn-outs and donuts a few times (knock on wood) and nothing broke.

But everyone has not been that lucky.:(
