Denied Warranty issue with paint

Not sure if this is the right or wrong place for it... but I had a post in the Issues section that wasn't getting many responses.

Basically, I've got paint chipping down to metal on the rear quarter panel of my car. My local dealership put a claim in to GM for warranty, and it was denied. The regional rep told the Body Shop Manager to only apply touch up paint.

The touch up paint looks like sh#%. I put in my record that I am completely dissatisfied with the attempt to repair the paint issue. I was told I would hear back from GM by Monday. It's now Thursday.

I called the bodyshop manager again today, this time I wasn't able to get a hold of him. However, my beef is... I don't see this rep coming around.

What are my recourses? Please don't reply with some of the over-the-top responses like picketing the dealership or brandishing a gun or what not.

If anyone has experience with similar issues and the GM warranty reps, I would appreciate it.

Thanks

I had issues with my paint as well, I just used my onstar button and had them get ahold of GM, after talking to them for a while they got me my district service manager, and I told him that this Camaro has been my very first brand new GM product, and if this is the kind of quality i can come to expect, it will also be my last. The car was repainted the next week.

Man that sucks, so they're treating the paint problem like a chip from road use?

I am glad I found this thread. After washing and drying the car this weekend, I noticed paint peeling on the rear bumper panel, and its getting worse. I will take a pic. This was NOT there when I got this car I June, this has happened in the past month. I am going by my dealer today. Do they just need to remove the bumper?? I really dread this.

I would like to know as well since I too have some issues with the paint and have been reluctant to take it in yet...

Sounds like a good resolution.

Find out why the claim was denied. Reasoning behind it.

I'd pickett their dealership while waving a gun!

Seriously that sucks. If you do raise it up the flag pole and they finally decide to repaint, I'd take it to a different dealer. That dealer will be mad and do a sh***Y job. I had the same thing happen with my 2008 HHR SS. Paint on the rear fascia was jacked when I took delivery, they just wanted to touch it up as well. Looking back I probably would have just let them do that. But nope, I had them re-paint it, it looks like crap but I have it in writing that's it guaranteed for the life of the car. After this Winter I'll take it back in and have them repaint it. Hopefully by then different people will work there. Good luck Man.

Took mine in for 1st oil change today. Service manager made a note of the paint coming off. ( two places and one big scratch predelivery). Asked if I wanted it painted now or wait to see if it gets worse. Said I could have it painted anytime. It is covered under the warranty.

It don't get much cooler than that at a dealership. I love small towns.

I think if my paint comes off I will get a new car from them. Come on. I bought a car with factory paint not repaint.

This has happened to my camaro and my dealership is taking care of it under warranty. Its because the back bumper is either misaligned or is too tight. In my case it's too tight. they will re-paint and put a buffer in so this does not happen again...
