Should I or Shouldn’t I? GY F1’s and temperatures

I just bought my Camaro 3 weeks ago and it’s in storage in the garage of the guy I bought it from. I have a window of opportunity to go down and drive it home this Sunday but it’s an hour and a half drive on I90. The temps are going to be in the upper 30’s so my question is about safely driving with Goodyear OEM tires that are half worn. I know that the official cutoff temp for these tires is 40 degrees but upper 30’s should be ok. Right? Anyone have experience driving in temps slightly under 40? I could wait till April when the weather really breaks but I’m an impatient man and can’t wait to get my new ride in the driveway!

Just drive it. They're "only" summer tires, not R compounds.

You'll be fine as long as you have some common sense. ie don't floor it if you don't want the tail to kick out.

Great! That’s what I thought but better to get some opinions on the forum! I’ll just be light on the throttle and keep it in touring mode.

Hey Mike - you'll be fine with the SS's tires. They're not as worrisome as the 1LE tires they use...and even those I regularly drove in 36-38º temps in November! Just leave distance and drive safe!

How far do you have to go?

Well my window of opportunity to pick up the car tomorrow just closed! It seems that the Erie County Auto Bureau is closed today because of Presidents Day! There was no notice on their website or on the phone number for locations and times, just a very small sign on the window. I was in line outside with about 30 other ppl until someone noticed the sign! So now I wait again for the next opportunity. It’s tough to schedule stuff between my job, the weather, other commitments, etc! Anyway, thanks for your advice regarding my tires!
