Adams Wet Sanding Supplies............

Figured that would get Adams attention.

Ok. So I wet sanded my front fascia after I had it painted and had the painter give me some thick clearcoat.

Using swirl and haze remover I got it to a high shine but when I look at juuuuuust the right angle it's not hard to see the lines. From the 3000 grit sandpaper/cloth.

I fear that when I get it out in the sun it will look bad. I can't imagine it because it's shining so much but I need it to be better.

The lines look like they are in the paint under he glossy smooth clear but I know they aren't because I can literally change the direction of the lines by sanding in the other direction. (I have plenty of clear on it)

So I tried different sanding techniques, different polishing techniques with the orange pad and SHR and come up with the same super shiny, yet lines if you look deep.

3000 grit is the most common sandpaper and the SHR just doesn't 'cut' it.

So my question is..................

Does the Severe Swirl and Haze Remover cut better enough to take care of this or is there a compound I can use first?

Meg's (Meguiars) m105 with a yellow (or in Adam's case, orange) pad followed up by S&H Remover followed up by FMP. Done.

(But seriously)... to get wetsanding marks out, you need a genuine compound. S&H Remover is a little too gentle. The most highly rated compound out there is Meg's M105 because it of its non-diminishing abrasives. It can actually clear out 1200 grit wetsanding marks, so it should make quick work of yours. It has a super fast working time, not to mention a lot of people are satisfied with the finish left by m105 alone but on a black car you'd want to follow it up with a finer polish. If used with a PC, it won't leave trails like a lot of compounds will.

I can understand if you're apprehensive about using such a powerful compound on 3000 grit marks, though, so maybe try to use a slightly less abrasive compound first. But I can tell you now, you'll be at it for awhile with S&H Remover... more than you should be when there are other abrasives that'll get the job done quicker. You pointed out Severe Swirl and Haze Remover... that might be just the ticket. It's just that personally, I like to get shit done quick so I'd just use m105. Even with a compound like m105, I wouldn't worry about removing too much paint if you're not behind the handlebar of a rotary. Not to mention you said your painter laid the clearcoat on thick, so that helps.

M105 will remove up to 1000 grit sandpaper marks. I used it yesterday with my Flex. I've seen it with my own eyes. You won't need to go that aggressive. SSHR should do the job.

Whoa, awesome guys. That's exactly what I was told already.

We used the SSHR and green pad on my rocker panel with 2000 grit paper and it didn't quite cut but want' far off. Might get the 3000 out.

If I can find the Megs local I'll get it. if not I'll order both just for kicks.

Well, when it comes from three mouths, then I guess that's all the feedback ya need! Hope it works out.

You're probably not gonna find products from Meg's Mirror Glaze line in local stores. Occasionally, a random offshoot Advance Auto Parts might carry it, but it's not likely. You're probably going to have to order it online. Autogeek's warehouse is over in in FL and I usually get my stuff two days after I order it, so it shouldn't take long to reach Alabama.

the Meguiars 105 and 205 are great for those heaver paint corretion needs that are out of the wheel house for Adams. Autogeek or Auto Detail Specialists are great places to get these.

105 is the compound, 205 is a finishing polish like FMP. You should be able to get 105 at Autozone. They just recently picked up some of the Meg's Mirror Glaze line. If you can't get it out with what you have, and don't want a full bottle of M105, PM me your address. I'll send you a sample of 105/205.

Ok. Haven't ordered the compound yet. Looked local first. Gonna have to order it. But this morning I took the best sample pics to show you that I could.

In the last one you can see the sanding lines.
