In the gm high tech performance shoot out the stock intake finished second in terms of acceleration. The Fastlane Pipeline was first and the CAI was third. As far as hp was concerned the CAI was first and the stock unit was sixth in HP. If you want to go fast it appears the stock intake provides faster acceleration than all but one aftermarket set up
I guess the question is do you buy a CAI to go fast to brag about the HP!

As you have already seen, we did really well in that testing. That being said, we probably would have showed even better under better testing conditions. The test was performed in an environment with many variables, so just keep that in mind. Either way, our CAI still did really well in it, I would just questions some of the methods used and conditions that the tests were done in.

That (finally) looks like the answer to my question. Thanks!

So is that saying a Tune won't void the warranty as long as it didn't cause any problems, just like adding a CAI?

Water ingestion and noise

CAI is a choice you make, and then you live with the downside. Other people, who may use their cars primarily for road trips, may prefer less noise and more reliability.

Correct. It is illegal under federal law to void your warranty just because the car has been modified. They can only deny a warranty claim if the issue in question is a direct result of the modification.

As far as 'cost' goes, I would bet a GM factory airbox and filter assembly costs much more than a CAI aftermarket assembly.....

Its not about cost. Vehicle engineers have many factors other than maximum performance to consider when they design OEM intake systems. Fuel economy, emissions, noise levels, and a million other things. They could easily add power by simply removing all the resonators and baffling inside the stock system but from their perspective those things are there for a reason. To us, they just suck.

My intent was in response to those that mention it being a cost factor
