You guys remember Nissan filed for Chapter 11 then ended up merging with Renault and cam back kickin ass and takin names. Do you think when the inevitable Chapt 11 happens GM will streamline and possibly merege and with who? A stripped Chrysler? Ford? A foreign company?

If GM merges with anybody, it will be the federal government. Chrysler might be thrown in too but that won't be done to keep GM afloat but more of to preserve Chrysler's brands (Jeep) and at least some of the jobs.

except one thing. Im pretty sure Nissan Motors never went in to chapter 11 so.......

I would say I'm for GM and Chrysler but, the Dic*kheads at Daimler own 20%, you know where I'm going with this ...

and Ford is doing very good right now, and still bent on not asking for aid from the gov. Why would ford agree to merge with a bunch of moochers like GM and Chrysler, I would of said Hell no

Crysler should be forced under GM. Let Crysler do a van and truck and GM does sedans and xovers. If models don't move they either have to make a model that will or close.

Better to bite the bullet now and rebuild future again.

Ford I hope they can survive without taking bail out money.

Nissan has never filed chapter 11.

They had a cash flow issue, and merged with Renault.

CEO Carlos Ghosn pulled it all together.

All of this remains to be seen. But in reality, they won't "merge" but if GM were to enter Ch. 11, the government would be forced to offer debtor in posession financing so that they could operate and reorganize. No private lender has the $$$ to do this kind of gargantuan task so the fed would have to take that role. That just means that the fed jumps to the front of the line in the order of who gets repaid first should GM become profitable again or file Ch 7 (in which case assets are liquidated to repay at least some of the debt). This is what you see happening right now with Circuit City.

There is talk that FIAT is thinking to buy GM if anything happens. Imagine that.... A Ferrari Camaro SS... LOL

GM is killing Hummer. That's already been announced. They would GLADLY take Jeep (an extremely strong brand) over Hummer. GMC doesn't really compete with Jeep but certainly Dodge would. So selling that off I could see. But Jeep is the best thing Chrysler has. They could sell it off to raise cash but the reasoning behind it (competition) doesn't hold water. Talks of GM-Chrysler merger have been going on for years and it hasn't happened yet so we'll see.

pretty sure no..... show me a source other than your z fourm that says that nissan has been in chap 11
