On the way to the fest last year we got hammered with rain on the way down. Highway speed and all of a sudden your floating. I think 36yrs of driving in the snow is the only thing that helped me save my sorry ass.

It could've been worse. Thankfully you guys are ok. As someone else said, it'll soon be a memory.

Well at least you both are ok.

Cars can be fixed.

For this reason right here is why the ZL1 stays in the garage when it rains.

My friends and family laugh but I don't really care. They wont help fix the car if I spin out in the rain. :/

Ya, I did save half my cup of coffee so I'm assuming that getting the rear end to get around parallel to the ditch help a lot for impact.

The only thing that would make this story funny would be if your name was Clyde.
I'd have had to shoot someone though.

If you decide to do all of the repairs, it will make a great thread for us to follow along.

It happens man. Had a similar thing happen on a 175 mile trip up to Jacksonville in my DD. Knew my front right tire was a little worn, but weather was forecast to be good decided 1 more round trip then was putting new rubber on.

Well hitting a wall on I-95 in a random FL rainstorm due to hydroplane with 0 possibility to recover sucks. Luckily when I hit the wall I straightened out in a matter of seconds to prevent a 10+ car pileup on the interstate. Once you start planing there is absolutely no saving it, you're literally along for the ride.

Happens, live and learn. Especially with DR's. I run them all the time around town, when it rains I stop. Period.

I can say that everybody on here is sorry to hear about your car, but glad to hear you and your wife is ok. Car guys always seem to make something that might be bad as a way to make it better in their own way..

Wow! Glad you guys are ok. I've been in a similar situation. Only at the end I was half in a pond an missed a tree and a telephone pole by a few inches. Whatever doesn't kill you... lol

reading this I thought: *here comes a pic of a mangled car* But NOOOO - it's still a beautiful car ALMOST in a proper ditch pose for the cam. yep, that floating in the rain feel rings a bell. I usually say silently, "grab, b*itch, grab" sometimes it works, others, not so much.

Yep, sucks to have the car banged up, but it will be recovered. Might cost a few dollars, there might be some headaches, and some time driving a rental Kia. But, it'll all be nothing but a lousy memory in a short period of time.
Or worse a Crystler 200 for 2 weeks, worse experience I've ever had.
