parking cameras
Anyone found and had good luck with one of those rear view mirror replacements that gives backup camera? BUT… I want one that has TWO cameras, backup AND one in front grill for front parking.
Will probably change out stereo head unit someday, but concentrating on other stuff for now, so wanting the review replacement for quick solution until someday when I actually care to mess with stereo. |

I was in the same boat where I wanted to have front and rear cameras and was starting to consider going with a new head unit. However, ever since I got a cam I rarely turn on the radio...plus I really like the look of the factory unit/dials. So, I ended up getting the front and rear camera kit from Gen5DIY, which includes a new mirror with a built in screen. Unfortunately, I don't have it fully installed yet.

Those things are quite pricey, though.

just buy one of the Amazon rearview mirrors and get 2 of the $20 cameras? then send me half the difference that the diy site charges? haha

Yeah, I guess it's a matter of perspective. While I was pricing out a radio, I was already up to $1200 between the head unit (with at least two video inputs) and a dash kit...so the $650 for their kit didn't seem too bad to me.
As bottletalk suggested, you could go with a universal mirror and save a bunch of coin. Although it may not be a concern, the main difference between the two mirrors is the one from Amazon doesn't have a plug for the factory harness whereas the GEN5DIY kit includes the adapter. I posted about the rear camera install in my build thread, but don't hesitate to reach out if you have questions. |

There are ways to do it on a factory MyLink. They are all pricey though. I have 3 cameras on my factory MyLink. Front, Rear and dash cam. They all have been working now for years. I used the Korean interface listed somewhere on here.
