Lfx torque/stall converter advice

Hello all! I have a 2013 v6 auto and am looking into torque/stall converters but not sure what would be best for me. I don't daily my car but I do drive it a good bit, if the weather allows it. I have all the typical bolt ons, along with a 100shot of nitrous and a 3.45 LSD swap from an ss. So here is my question. What is the best bang for the buck? I wanna be able to drive the car on a daily basis in the summer and what not, so don't wanna give up drivability but I still wanna improve my 1/4 times and 60ft times. Should I also look into trans coolers? I also want to have it hold up to possible future mods. (Cams, FI, ect) Just trying to get my all my ducks in a row before I buy my tune so any advice is greatly appreciated! Thanks guys!

I had a FTI 3200 single disc and switched a couple months ago to a Circle D 3800 triple disc. Mine is a daily driver with 81k miles on the car.

I had a feeling you to comment on this thread, LOL. So how do you like the circle be compared to your other one? How much is it, if you don't mind me asking

wasn't cheap, think it was twice the cost of my FTI. Think i paid around $1200, not 100% sure. You are paying for the ability of it to lock up under WOT where as the FTI cannot. Something funky has been with my setup. Tried many many tunes and still having an issue keeping it locked. Not saying its an issue with the converter, just in my trans or tune or both. Been through a lot of miles and abuse!

I see. That's a bit pricey for what I initially intended. I think I might look into an FTI and try that for my "first" converter. How is the install? Does FTI make a 3800? And should I also look into a trans cooler? Thanks again for the help

yes they make a 3800. Get a good cooler and consider doing what some of us have recently done by getting a thermostat for it. I have mine routed to flow through the radiator only til it reaches a certain temp then it will flow through both cooler and radiator. I did this cause i noticed my trans fluid temps were very cold even after driving an hour. I am using the B&M HiTec cooler. Doesn't have to be too large as most are very efficient. The way the T stats are designed, 90% flow goes through the cooler by pass and 10% flows through the cooler to keep the system pressurized and when gets to temp, 100% flows to cooler

Thank you for the advice. I will look into all of that before deciding. Did you just get a gauge for a pillar pod?

Gauge for what? Trans temp? I monitor it with my HP Tuners logging. Plus my car is a RS so it has the console gauges too.

Skullcandy, we also have an HP series 245mm torque converter for your LFX. It features an oversized 258mm single billet lockup piston, furnace brazed pump and turbine, hand TIG welded fins and your choice of stall speed. Price on these is $550. Give us a call if interested.

Got confused when you said thermostat, been a long day already haha. I have a trans temp gauge so I'm good for that.

What size torque converter is "to much"? Not familiar with all this quiet yet. Is there a threat to the life of the trans?
