HELP....V6 Short throw shifter install

I have a 2014 RS V6....

I have a GM short throw shifter that I am in the middle of installing. I have everything loose and apart but I cannot get the original shifter to come out. I have it down enough to get the plastic coupling out but cannot get it the rest of the way.

Anyone have experience with this and can offer some guidance???

Car is up on stands and I desperately need to get this completed tonight so I can drive to work tomorrow.

It seems like it is being held in place by something but I cannot figure out what. I have not taken the interior dust boot off yet but I may have too.

Please help.....THANKS

Thanks for the link....

I have reviewed this install and watched the others on youtube as well as the Hurst supplied video. However, I'm wondering if it has anything to do with this being a V6 model. All the install "how to" out there are referring to V8 models and they show the stick just sliding out. Mine is definitely stuck or not releasing for some reason or another.

Thanks again for the link

I'm not sure how to show the write up from the DYI section but CAMAROJOE96 had a post answering this question in June 2013.
Evidently on the V6 models you have to remove the centering springs under the internal dust boot. There is a bolt at the 12 o'clock and 6 o'clock position. You will have to stretch the dust boot cover opening around the shifter stalk in order to see them. Loosen them and remove the bolts and the shifter will slide right out.
Thanks to CAMAROJOE96 for the great write up. I was just about to put everything back together and return to stock.
Hopefully I can get the short throw all bolted up and running tonight.
