Gotta love Camaros!!

Well I have a new 5th gen, but now i want to add a 4th gen also to be garage. I dont know much about the 4th gens to be honest so i have a few questions. How do you tell what engine it has, as far as a ls1 or lt1? Also below is the link to the car i am looking at. PLEASE give me your thoughts..http://www.siddillon.com/2002-Chevro...NE/vd/14902544

Stock for stock, you can tell by the front end of the car.

The 1993-1997 Z28, and 1996-97 SS, have 4 small rectangular head lights and may also have 2 small rectangular fog lights. These are the LT1 cars.

The 1998-2002 Z28 and SS cars have 2 head lights and 2 small round driving lights. These are the LS1 cars.

That's quite a variation in car options. Do you have a particular budget and goal for the car?

Like anything else, it's best to stick with the newest you can afford. While the LS1 debuted in 1998 for the Camaro, there were improvements over the years with 2001 having the last change. With that said, 2002 is the last year for that generation, so I'd obviously try and find a 2002 (hell, that's actually what I personally did ).

If you don't care to modify it, then it's even more preferable to stick with the newer ones. If you want to go nuts or whatever with modifications, then it's not such a big deal to go older.

The best LS1 website is www.ls1tech.com. www.camaroz28.com used to be the best LT1 site, but I haven't been on there in many, many years.

Honestly, there is a KILLER deal here in the classifieds: http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=310033

I go through Blair a lot, I work for UP. So if you see an arm waving out of a train going through it most likely will be me! I see a SGM parked outside of the bar that is across the street from Valmont Industries in Valley. Will keep my eyes peeled for yours.

Ya I just talked to them about it and it looks like the carfax shows it was either a leased car or a loan car like a rental for awhile.

Is 9500 a bad price?

Z28 was aesthetically the same as the base model -- 16" wheels, regular hood and spoiler. SS received 17" wheels, scoop on the hood, and pedestal spoiler.

There were very minor suspension and exhaust differences, but nothing significant, and they are things that the majority of people replace via the aftermarket, anyway.

Power ratings on paper were 310hp Z28 (01/02) and 325hp SS (01/02). In reality, they all made the same 350hp that the same LS1 made in the Corvette.
