Whoever said that using the technology from the CTS would be stupid because it would be copying is just completely wrong. The car has an LS3, not its own camaro engine, it has a 3.6 DI v6 that is shared with the CTS, if they tried to use new tech on every car, they wouyld be bankrupt.
Go get a rice burner because the option that Chevy boosted and promised isnt there, and customers are upset, because of that, i should buy a rice burner. These comments just make me laugh, if GM promised you the LS#, then gave you a turbo 4 banger, would you still love your camaro, would you not whine about it? A promised option, is a promised option, dont expect people to not get upset, especially when they have payed for it. I understand that it may not seem like a big deal to many, but to some it is, to each their own. I wish it wouldve been the way they presented it, i still dont think the heat cycle test is valid enough, but atleast they tried. As much as we complain, i doubt that this option will be available the way we want it for production, but i will be pissed if it is for the 2011 model.
I just hope that for some reason, they get it fixed and then add it to the production cars later to connect it with the door panels, is there any way we can voice this to GM?
So are you taking your OWN advice and getting a "rice burner"???

1) it was never an "option"
2) no one "payed for it "... it was not on Work Bench !
3) please don't send another "plea " to Scott.

There is a video of a Silver SS where the IOM interior ABL flickers on and off when the key is turned. I don't know where that video is but it didn't look bad..Kinda looked like this.

Where the heck did this picture come from?

Yes, that looks like it's on!

Now, I gotta say, this is the best "interior lighting shot" I've seen yet! I love how the gauges have the blue backlight. Man, I wasn't a fan of the interior...but now I'm in love! The lighting is amazing and really sets it apart!

Maybe it's the paint type in the panel? And there is no light on? That's why the shine is off in the shadowed area. Could be the apeal and advantage of the IO with the trim package.

The more I look at that pic the more I don't think there is light in the dash panel.

My two cents on the whole thing...

When I first laid eyes on the concept, it wasn't just the sharp exterior styling that caught my eye, but that big swath of ABL was simply arresting. The total package just worked inside and out. When production was first announced, in my mind I was thinking that if they keep it as close to the concept as possible, I was buying that car. I wouldn't even consider anything else.

When the pricing and options were announced, I thought it was a bit much. The options list was pretty restrictive and getting a car with ABL and leather was going to require the 2LT package. I didn't want anything else that came with the 2LT, but I figured it would be worth it to get the ABL and the leather. But the price was a bit more than I wanted to pay, and that's when I started thinking about giving the competition a chance.

Now that the full ABL isn't going to be offered, I don't have any reason to get the 2LT except for the leather, and I'm not shelling out that much for just leather seats. So at the least, if I do get a Camaro, GM is getting a couple thousand less out of me. But moreso than that...the dash and door panel plastic was underwhelming IMHO, but the full ABL made up for that. Without it, the interior now doesn't have any advantage over the competition. In fact, I daresay the new Mustang's interior looks better, and the Genesis coupe could give it a run for its money.

So whereas a year ago I was going to buy a Camaro without question, all of the competition is now on the table and I'm going to drive each competitor and work from there. The Camaro still has advantages with its exterior styling and power, but pricing, options, and interior quality is dropping its stock in my eyes.

When you get the IOM interior, the rings are red, this one had blue rings for some odd reason. It was at a recent autoshow.
GTO, i think i confused you, i meant to add a question mark after the rice burner, my point was that people being upset over the ABL doesnt mean that they should go and buy a rice burner. Second, when i was at the autoshow, the rep showed me a page that clearly stated under 2lt and 2ss, Ambient Lighting. 3rd, every unveil that weve seen, and the LA one is proof, they had their renderingsa on huge boards showing it off, they even spoke about it. So dont jump at me. And WTF does dont plea to Scott mean? Explain yourself
The video where the ABL flickers is in the Dubai video

What a bunch of cry babies. If ABL is that big of a deal go get a rice burner.
If I were chevy I would just cancel the entire production plans. The new Camaro must be a piece of crap without that ABL thingy. GET REAL GUYS
I wonder how much longer GM would last if they only tried to appease you.

lmao well said Stout. Thats what i was trying to make a point of but GTO took it the wrong way. Irpq, the dash will look like that, and i bet it will look better in person, i just hope the door panels dont scratch to easy, watches rings, girlfriends nails, all seem like enemies to the panels right now

I think it's just the light reflecting off the top of the panels to me.
