That's not exactly true. Assuming all things are equal then perhaps but one needs to look at the efficiency of both designs, such as the flow of exhaust through the turbines and the way the air flows through the piping. It all adds up to parasitic losses. Plus like SSE 4 2SS stated twins usually make more power throughout the RPM band so even if peak power were the same the twins will have more AVERAGE power from 2,000 to 6,000 and create less heat in the process.

When someone says "I have a huge honk'n single turbo under my hood and no heating problems" that does not mean it is not a probelm...YET. One of the great things about most of the twin set ups out there is NO ADDED heat under the hood over stock. Sure at WOT on the dyno an engine making 700hp will produce more heat than a stock 420 hp but at cruise, just going down the road, it is as if your were stock. All the shielding in the world can't eliminate the heat thrown off the exhaust and in the case of a single set up, you are plumbing exhuast from under the car back up into the engine compartment. It is just a fact of life and a part of the design.

Also in the case of the Granatelli Twin system (like SSE 4 2SS’s car) the turbos are above the frame rail as well as all the intake and exhaust tubing. Additionally we don’t suck hot air off both sides of the engine. You don’t need the shield as a “skid plate” it is there for driver piece of mind and it also channels the air past the motor more efficiently – think of it as a belly pan to make the car more slippery.

We have tons of Journal bearing turbo kits on the street. There is nothing wrong with journal bearing turbos. They require better lubrication (simply meaning more oil flow – which is all addressed in the kit when you purchase it FROM GRANATELLI) and if your real goal is a reliable 600 rwhp (say 700 crank) you’re in. If balls out power is your goal then by all means Ball Bearings it is And As You Can See We Sell A Lot Of BB TT Kits.

Granatelli is beyond the introductory faze of marketing our TT kits. Every manufacture will tell you they have the highest quality kit and state the reasons why. We just let our products, customers and customer support speak for itself in most cases.

I agree - there are a lot of great fabrication guys out there that can do awesome work but why have a custom kit build when there are so many great bolt on systems out there with that custom type quality on the market?
