Question Powder Coating

I am getting ready to have my rims powder coated flat black to match my stripes and bowties. I have seen a few done but they did not get the lug nuts done. I know they bake the rims at 400° before the paint but can't the lug nuts take that heat as well? I know the center caps would melt but I would think you could do the lug nuts.

I am actually researching this same thing. For the money I might just buy black lug nuts instead, but I'm curious to see what others are saying.

I would assume it has something to do w/ the wear and tear lugs get (from being taken on and off) that makes it not a good idea, but I don't know for sure.

One thing that anyone doing wheels in black or lugs, they chip VERY easily. I love the look as mine were custom done with black/IOM and I love them but they are impossible to keep up with. You will also have to hand torque the lugs as an impact wrench will make your wheels ugly really fast. They will look great just takes a little more effort.

That makes sense on the wear and tear on the lug nuts but I do not want to buy shiny ones when the rims will be flat or matte black. It is going to be enough fun trying to paint the center caps to match. I have just seen 2 cars that had the tires powder coated and both had non painted lugs. I will talk to the powder coaters more next week when I take the rims in.

Attached are some updated photos. I purchased the lugnuts because the painted ones seemed to get scratched up.
