Pop/Tick/Knock noise from passenger rear

Hello 6th Gen Camaro enthusiasts. This is my first post to the forum, as I am a new Camaro owner and just picked up a 2023 Vivid Orange Metallic LT1 in August.

Sadly in November I was hit in a minor fender bender by someone who blew a red light.

I just got the car back from the body shop, but have noticed a noise coming from the passenger rear of the vehicle. Took it to my local Chevy Dealership where I bought the car for my first free oil change and inspection.

They told me this noise is normal and is the Evap solenoid. Question is why didn’t I hear this before the accident, and how come it seems more prevalent now? Just wanted to confirm that the dealership is correct.

I attached a picture from the accident for reference. The noise only happens within 30 seconds to a minute after I shut the car off and put it in park. The sound is coming directly from behind the passenger rear quarter/wheel, and can be heard from inside and outside the vehicle. It sounds like someone knocking lightly on the rear quarter two to three times.

Any guidance helps. Thanks in advance!

Sincerely,

Joe

FWIW - My car makes that noise about 30 seconds after shutdown and it has for the full eight years of ownership.

SSDAN,

Thanks for the quick reply. I figured it was a common noise that had just gone unnoticed since I purchased the car until now, but I wanted some insight for confirmation. The dealership told me its a common noise found on all newer Camaro and Corvette models.

LT4Greg,

Thanks for the response. Good to know I don't need to stress about it. Seems as though the dealership was right.

I have not heard it on my car, but honestly I haven't been paying close attention.

However, I have heard the exact noise you describe in other vehicles. As the dealer informed you, it is an emissions related system that makes the noise. I wouldn't worry about it.

MT-SS1LE,

Thanks for the information. Glad its nothing to worry about and not a result of the minor fender-bender.

It's normal, I hear it regularly when I get out in my garage after it's turned off about a minute thereafter.

I definitely hear this after shutting her down. Can't tell you how many times I shot a glance over my right shoulder thinking someone is tapping on the small quarter window.

Thanks everyone!

Good to know I'm not the only one hearing this noise. Thought I was going crazy at first.
