Daily drivers vs weekend warriors
Alright guys. In trying to understand something, so I'm seeking some various opinions. I myself use my Z as a daily driver and love every second. Now on the other hand, I have a guy in my neighborhood who owns a 12 Z. Bought it new and has babied the heck out of this thing. I mean it has under 300 miles on it. It jus sits there. Lol for 3 years now. Why do you guys think? Originally I thought maybe he was trying to avoid mileage to keep the value up, but I even played around on KBB and the same 2 cars one with 1000 miles and the other with 20000 only have about a 2k difference in value in the private party market. Aside from his I have NOT seen another Z out in the wild in my area. So my question is, what's everyone's driving habits?

I drive mine. It has a power train for a reason, and it's not to be a garage ornament. I don't care about resale value because I'm keeping the thing for myself. I don't understand why someone would buy a car like this just to look at it, but that's my opinion and plenty will disagree. Nobody will change my opinion and I doubt I will change anyone else's.

Weekend/monthly. Sadly, right now the mileage won't really affect the resale value that much. In a decade from now, the lower mileage examples will be worth more.

Mine is a weekend warrior. I could drive it everyday and did for a few weeks. All it got me was a nice deep scratch on the drivers side fender. From then I decided to daily drive my F250 and keep the Z for weekends. I am supper particular about blemishes and in the end not worth having more damage by getting it out during the week. I drive it nearly every weekend but since we live near almost everything we need to go to it doesn't rack up miles very fast. About to hit 5k miles soon. I did daily drive my '06 Z06 for about six months when I had it.

I would like to drive my 1LE more often but for me I get more enjoyment driving a car that is clean, shiny and new looking all the time. The only way to do that is to clean it after everytime I drive it. That takes a lot of time and it gets old really fast. So I have chosen to drive it only on nice days occasionally to work and on the weekends. I've had my car since April of 2013 and I have 13131 miles on my car. So it's not like I don't drive it at all, I just don't daily drive it.
Now if I had another "toy car" in the garage like say a 2014+ Z/28 then maybe my 1LE would get the daily driving duties. But until then my 1LE is my "toy car" and I have a 2014 Sierra and 2006 Grand Prix GXP for daily driving duties. So for me it's not so much the mileage that bother's me it's just keeping the paint, body, engine bay in "like new" looking condition.

I have a company vehicle so WW here. Been working 7 days a week so it has been sitting for a month. When it does go out a 700-1000 round trip is very common. It is a great road trip car. Im at 17,000 miles in 2 years of weekend use.

I debate this topic with guys at work. I love driving it and would every day, but I also want it to stay nice for a longer period of time. I drive it to work one or two days a week at most and then some on weekends. I baby it because I enjoy it more when it's clean in every way.
My previous camaro was supposed to be WW but ended up being my DD. While I had fun with it over the years it just didn't look so nice after a while. This time, it's somewhere in between. I want it to look new as long as possible while still enjoying it. |

I drive mine as often as possible because I love driving it and because tomorrow is not promised to any of us. I had a friend recently pass away unexpectedly at a relatively young age who also had a ZL1 and he rarely drove it.
Enjoy your cars while you can as often as you can.

Mine is a weekend and occasional weekday toy. In my business I have to get off the beaten path for some meetings so the Z isn't a practical daily driver. I have managed to put 800 miles on it in the first month of ownership so the car is getting some time away from the garage.
