hey on that second picture you posted up is the rocker arm loose already,about to be removed? because it looks like its hanging half way off the valve stem..?

Didn't read the entire thread, but I hope someone corrected the OP that that isn't the valve seat but rather the spring seat instead. Huge difference and you would have know about a valve seat failure long before you torn into the motor.

I'm guessing the same. The seat wasn't sitting properly.

Well I'm glad you caught it on time bud and I hope the piston and valve did not kiss!
Call comp in the morning ask for Gabe Grey iirc that's his name and he might be able to send you another spring. He's s very cool guy and he's gonna want some pics so have them ready which I know you do now lol. Keep us posted bud.

It's seems the spring is fine. I got the heads off no evidence of the piston and valve kissing. Some of the lifters have some wear nothing major. Cam lobes look fine. I changed my oil about 100 miles ago and still had the oil and filter. I cut the filter open and it was clean. Stirred a magnet around in the old oil it was clean too. Gonna do another oil and filter change and see what I come up with. Is there a magnet in our oil pans?

No BUT most auto parts places sell the magnetic drain plug.
