I could be wrong and would certainly defer to Racebum in this since he far exceeds anything I would hope to do in a car, but to really get into and through those corners fast, you need to be braking and downshifting and you do not want to upset the balance of the car and to really do that right, you need to rev match the downshift to be in the right RPM when you drop down a gear. I know the F-1 and race cars that are paddle shift have the computer do that rev match for them. It is not really and auto as we think of them.

I look forward to his reply.

Positve Zl1 Reinforcement

I am a Corvette Owner (2012 Centennial ZR1) and decided to take a plunge with ZL1...The order is at 3300 and I understand it has been Sequenced and has a Target Date to come off line next week.
I have been fortunate in my Life, and my one Vice has always been Corvettes dating back to my first one in 1965.
I made a lot of good friends along the way and they Prodded me into trying the Camaro's...I am sure I will be happy with it and hopefully I will also try a ZL1 Convertible which would be nice to have for the Summer.
I will say this in Conclusion: I WOULD TRADE IT ALL TO HAVE MY WIFE BACK WHO IS SUFFERING WITH ALS, and To Compound it we had to put one of our 2 Cats to sleep Yesterday.....Devistating to say the least because he was one of Wife's Companions...
Remember if you have your Health----you have EVERYTHING--the other things you can obtain......."Don't sweat the small stuff.
NO more Preaching......Harvey...
PS All I need now is one more Garage Space for the three cars... Harvey

Congrats on your 3300 status. Keep us posted will you please? Sounds like you better hurry up and get that garage space ready! I'm at almost the same stage as you, so if the weather will cooperate, my garage will be ready.

I appreciate your vice! Someone on this site has listed in their signature something like this "The Car is the right of passage marking when a boy becomes a man, and it is The Car that keeps the boy in the man"..... So, it is said, and so shall it be!

Thank you for sharing and expressing the challenges and heartache you are experiencing, and of course, how much we take for granted sometimes. I understand first hand the impact health has on your life. If I could say one thing to the younger folks on here, I'd say/ask: "If you don't take care of your health, where will you live?"

Welcome to the C5 community!

On the way to an all day car show in Tampa, but will respond tonight. In the meantime read up on the automatic. I have played with the CTS V Coupe automatic and it does have F1 technology. Will go into greater details tonight, but I think the automatic will be better....a computer can do better and faster than a human.

That's truly great hearing that coming from someone IN THE PITS and ON THE COURSE. Maybe we'll be at a driving school in the spring!

I am going to positively love this car. Each day that goes by I'm a day closer to having the ZL1 in my driveway. The pic down below is on my screen saver at home and at work. Every mourning when I turn on my computer I have a big grin on my face. The most difficult aspect of buying this car overall is figuring the color and other options. I keep going back to white so will see.
Re living my youth of fast cars .
