Really? I'm sure that's the case for every 55 zone that's still out there

Guess they just bumped the 55 zone here in GA to 65 because they just felt like it..... and this is how long after the national speed limit was revoked?

Your damn straight I do believe I'm smart enough to know when a speed limit is underposted. I pay my taxes title registration and tickets. I'll do as I please thank you! Overboard with the irresponsible comment but you can believe you know me all you would like.

Another reason for me is I drive w/ no front plate and as long as I'm not pulled over for speeding or missing a turn signal this pretty much gets ignored. I don't want a random speeding mistake to mess up my no front plate. I've already read how perfect your driving is so please don't repeat it. I'm not perfect and have an occasional lead foot, the radar detector helps.

It also appears this thread has been Jacked... Here's a reminder of what it should be about.
I never said my driving was perfect, I don't know where you got that from. It's one thing to accidentally go over the speed limit (but I think anyone doing 15+ over is not doing it accidentally), I still think it is irresponsible driving to do it on purpose.

Sorry about the thread jack, I just don't see the need for a radar detector if you pay attention to your driving and don't intend on speeding in the first place.

I went with the 9500ix 2 years ago because of the GPS even thougth the v1 performs slightly better. The storing of the false positivies works great and the red light camera alert is is very good too. Im a stickler for not running red lights but it happens once in a while and its nice to know where these cities have there revenue generators.

Yup... that's why I quoted your OP again.

Seems you are on the right track anyway. Either the V1 or 9500ix will do you great. Cost is up in the 500 range for both of these, but it really is worth it. I cruise with quite a few other Camaros almost every weekend and you can watch the guys with the cheapo detectors hit their brakes way after my Escort has already gone off. It will last you a long and transfers from car to car so save up and bite the bullet...

Good info here from someone who has used both... I too like the red light voice notification for our cruises. When a bunch of cars are following I try to anticipate the yellow light and stop way early so others behind me don't try to run through just to stay up w/ the pack..

Just think you do 10 mph over the limit you save a whopping 11 minutes on the interstate going 80 instead of 70 for each 100 miles. Are 11 minutes really worth it?
what if your not speeding huh? maybe someone might have really dark tinted windows or no license plate? (both in my case) the radar detector could let let you know where a cop could be and give u a little heads up to either roll down your windows or pull up that retractable license plate.

speaking of being late, what if you woke up late to work and your boss told u that you're on his last straw (making up the story btw) u have to speed if you want to save your job and the radar detector can tell you to slow down for just a little bit until u pass the cop.

so answering your question, yes 11 min. are really worth it.

pow right in the kisser! looks like you're not 100% correct

If you think you may ever use it in Virginia (not that I condone breaking the law), you would want a radar detector this is totally undetectable. The 2 best are the BEL STI Driver (that is what I have) or the Escort Redline.

Ha ha I ducked and you missed. First not all cops have their radar on 100% of the time, so you could still be stopped for those infractions and you could have a dozen radar detectors and it wouldn't matter.

If your job is on that thin of ice you got more problems than a radar detector Will solve.

Yea but something you only need to be worried about if you are in Virginia, Washington DC or on military bases. Anywhere else and it is nothing to worry about.

Many states also use these frequencies for safety alerts (in case of an emergency vehicle is near by). Even though that not every police officer has their radar gun on at all times, it will reduce your chances of getting cited for breaking the law if used properly (not that I condone breaking laws). It also will probably guarantee you a ticket if you are pulled over with it.
