Limp Mode question...

2014 ZL1 6 Speed.
Mods-
Long tubes, Drag radials, SS Throttle body, CAI, 2.50 upper Pulley.

Car ran perfect until I installed the upper pulley...

Ran a best time of 12.7

Installed the pulley, and on the way to the track, when I blip the throttle around a turn, it immediately goes into Reduced power mode, and service stabilitrack..

Unplug the battery, and it resets and runs fine until I blip it around a corner.

At the track last night, I ran a best time of 11.98 @ 118 with no problems. Leaving the track, on the first turn, limped it.

I swapped back in the stock Throttle body with the same results.

Any ideas?

Um........might be a stupid question here.....but you DID get a tune for it right?? Reading your post makes it sound lime you just went ahead and threw a upper on there and headed to the track.

Yes. It is tuned. Going to have it looked at tomorrow. Just trying to narrow it down on what to look for. Could be just a tweak in the tune, but hoping someone has seen this before.
The weird part is it ran without any issues at the track. Only limps on the street.

Did you upgrade Injectors?

From my limited knowledge I know that 2.5" is way too much over drive to be safe on stock injectors and a tune...Safe mode (Limp Mode) to prevent detonation?

Data log and share the results with your tuner....

Im shocked anyone would run the 2.5 without injectors and a BAP myself but some guys get away with it. Thats cutting it way too close for me.
The only time ive ever seen any limp mode behavior was when id forgotten to plug in my throttle body. Did you try clearing the codes before swapping to the lsa tb?

Yes with that much boost he needs injectors and BAP. Nonetheless, that isn't what's causing his problem. Tune is suspect. Who tuned it? Check codes. Probably a P0068 stored. And maybe P0106 and P0101

I'm running a 2.5 upper with stock injectors and custom tune with no issues period...I bet it has something to do with the drag radials he's driving around on unless he has overridden the TPMS...I hit mine all the time and have never had any warning light activate, and still on OEM tires...

If any of the throttle tables were changed in the tune it is most likely the cause.

But the question was "Has it been tuned prior to you putting the smaller pulley on and since the pulley install?"...And I bet the answer is "NO"...Tick, tock, tick, boom...

Tune has been massaged. Running 10.8# boost, and pulling 628hp and 568tq. No more limp!

Huh? With a 2.5 and intake and longtubes? Stock injectors and pump cant support that kind of power. 10.8 boost is not enough for that kind of horsepower either.

Yes it can...Less exhaust restriction means higher boost per pd, so that equates to lower boost pressure with higher HP, so those numbers look appropriate to the mods...Glad he got it tuned...

Im catless with longtubes, injectors, bap, 2.4 showing 13lbs boost and a tony mamo ported ls7 90mm tb on 93oct with s9me other minor mods.....and im not putting that kind of power down...either my tune really is pure SHIT, or that dyno is VERY generous lol. Almost willing to drive out there for some glory numbers if so haha
